Is there anyway to tell what my bun is?

Hello everyone! I'm new here and a relatively new bunny owner (almost a year now). I know my Bunbun is a dwarf mix because he is only three pounds and full grown, but I don't know what mix he is. Does anyone have a guess?Is there just a dwarf mix breed?He was a rescue, here is a pic. Thanks!

I would hazard a guess at Mini rex mix, because of the overall look of the head. May be the by-product of a tri-color breeding project, since the solids aren't showabl.

Hmmmm... Mini rex's are velvety soft, right? He has the most amazingly soft coat.

About how long is it? When you run your hand from back to front, does the fur sort of stand on end, or does it lay against his body? He looks rather rexy to me.

His fur is about 1/2 an inch long and stands up on end. Which is totally different from my Netherland, her hair is much longer.



Oh... and it seems like his has 2 coats. He has gone through a shedding where he loses his softness for a bit.

Then it sounds like you've got a Mini rex! Like I said, almost certainly a result of a breeders tri-color breeding, since he's got harlequin coloring. He's probably purebred, as well since breeding normal furred rabbits to rex furred rabbits only gives you normal fur.

He sure is a pretty boy.

Really! How exciting! I was just looking at some of the mini rex pics in the forum and it totally makes sense, he is very similar. Thank you!!!

There is a breed called Harlequin.

But Harlequin is also a color name, possible in many breeds, including the Mini Rex.
