How to groom fuzzy lop while still trying to bond?

Hi all! I just got my 1st bunny about 4 days ago he is an 8 wk old fuzzy holland lop. I have found a few small matted areas( about the size of a dime) behind his ears on his neck. I carefully cut them ways with scissors after trying invasion to remove them by hand. Now I'm concerned with his bottom area becoming tangled. My question is how should I approach brushing him while I'm still trying trying to bond with him? Any suggestions would be most helpful!

Sorry, I have no idea. Is he litter box trained?

I have a litter box in his cage which he uses to pee in he also poops in it but he poops in other areas of the cage as well.

That young the litter habbits will come and go. I would make sure you groom daily to get him used to it. Also make it special time, feed a few pellets by hand since he's too young for treats.
