Hi I know it’s weird asking advice here, but I need to just let out steam somewhere.

This is getting ridicules, I don’t like being near people that drinks and will always be the person that stay in a corner while being at parties avoiding people. I’m the one that drive home my drunk friends and make sure everyone get home safe or at least make sure they don’t do anything stupid.

I don’t like being around a lot of people because I had quite a lot of anxiety around people. I even once had trouble writing on forums and expressing myself.

Just today while I was waiting to go off the train, I had a close call. There was a drunk person on the train walking around, he stopped where I was sitting and just stared. To avoid him I walk to another part/ wagon of the train and door, while waiting for the train to stop. I was at the front door of the train so no more space to go and the drunk person comes up, randomly I get a punch thrown towards my face it was just a few cm away from getting hit and myself taking a step back to avoid it. One of my childhood friends really thought I was hit while she’s hiding behind me. Later on the drunk person hold up his fist towards me and stare, telling me to come to him and myself just trying to not escalate the situation. While all the people in the train wagon just stare at me and the drunk person while backing away. The train stopped and the drunk person choiced to focus on to get off the train, which I was glad he did.

Not really the first time getting in annoying situations with drunk people and not the first time getting a fist randomly thrown towards me 😅 I have never provoked any person or show any distain, I told my friend to not say any comments because she have no filter.

I’m already struggling going out the front door so getting in different situation with drunk peope aren’t really helping. I have used calling friends, avoiding and ignoring to try to get away from different situations I have ended up in, I even once forced my little brother to come meet me to just avoid a drunk person. I’m never out late and if I’m out late I take my own car.

So myself feel quite unsafe around people that drinks, even though it can be my bestfriend taking one glas of wine and myself will unknownlingly keep a certain distance. Just a instinct I picked up from when I was a kid. Do any of you been through that fear and how did you handle it.

Oh i know what you mean, in a way. I haven't been blessed with the most decent people around either so we sometimes have quite a number of drunkards around. Heck, one christmas night after a walk with my family i accidentally stepped on a drunk person sleeping in the dark corridor of our apartment building!
I don't say that i literally go out of my way to avoid drunk people, but whenever i see one (even from afar) i instinctively try to take those couple extra steps left or right to not meet those said people.
We live in a, what the wide world would say, tiny parish, (1500-2000 ppl the statistics say) so it's easy for me to remember all the local drunkards and take another road to my destination to avoid them all together. Ain't the least bit nice to have weird, awkward and sometimes even kinda kinky comments directed at you, so making sure that i never even meet those said people up close is my preferred tactic. When that's not possible, i just do my best to walk a speedy step and ignore them. Best of luck!

It gets quite annoying needing to try avoid people but it can be hard doing it when you live in larger town 😂

I know a few of the places and it can get quite creepy when they go into your space. They are so unpredictable on how they will react. The only drunk people I’m ready to handle is my closest family and good friends 🙄

I'm not even ready to handle my close family and their friends that sometimes come over to visit. Especially my mum, she gets real wild and says and does some really idiotic things. She's a nice person but only when she's sober. Fortunately dad gives me no problems as he knows when to stop and will peacefully go have a nap or something.
I just can't really trust my parents' friends either as i don't know, and don't really want to know, what kind of people they are. Sure we might share some conversations when a topic they talk about is of interest to me, but other than that, not really.
That may be because those local drunkards would often make a ruckus, bang on doors and break stuff in the middle of the night. One such person crashed their car into a lamppost right next to our apartment building! Some other "stupid" things they'd do would be randomly appearing at our doors and asking for either beer/other alccl money, cigarettes or just the plain sentence of "do you have any x-booze to share?"
So mum and dad always said no and eventually just started ignoring any doorbell or knock from an unannounced person until these people never came again.
That is why i've made a vow to myself every time i've seen someone booze or smoke or act like trash that i'll never ever get into such business, I'M going to stay sober and never ever stink of tobacco!
Just curious though, how many people live in your city?

My small town it’s only 8000 people but I often take the train to the city which have over half a million but that’s a place many travel through to their different destination. Sweden don’t have a lot of people living in it. But where I live there not a lot of people that are drunk if you don’t walk down to the train.

I can handle my parents becuase I know how they react. I can handle my sibblings when they get drunk because they are just like my dad they become like small kids. But other people I won’t trust and myself know my friends how they also react. But I often say no to alcohol and avoid people that drinks. I’m the driver of my friends and family, you call me if I can pick someone up or want to go somewhere 🤣

When i get old enough to drive a car (18) i bet i'm going to be just like you in that sense!

Ah geez, drunk people are so fun. Not. I've always been the type to get a nice buzz, warm feeling going but never to the point where you're horribly inebriated. I myself would be the sober driver, the "mother" if you will and take care of everyone else by the end of the night. Sounds like this guy was a complete sloppy drunk. You did your best to try and stay away but at that point, if I was in your shoes, the police would have been called. Or pepper sprayed lol. Just remember if he swung at you first, and you just so happen to swing back, it would have been self defense. ;)

That’s true, but myself start to feel so much guilt if I hurt someone. So I rather back away and avoid than confronting.

Confronting is the last way for me 🤣

Didn’t have time to call the police because I was trying to catch another train, had no time to handle a drunk person.

I understand, and I don't blame you for feeling like that. Just remember that you have every right to defend yourself if it came down to it. At least you were able to get away before he tried to escalate the situation.

I have to admit, I am a hot head at times so my approaches to things may not be the right fit for others lol. Road rage is the worse for me. I have the mouth of a sailor when it comes to stupid drivers.

There are a few perks being hot headed sometimes. My bestfriend always tells me to be harsher because she thinks I’m too kind and meek 🤣

But I can understand the road rage, there are few stupid people and you can’t understand how they got a driver license.

I see the pros and cons of being both. You definitely don't want to be too nice otherwise you get taken advantage of but at the same time, you don't want to be too harsh. I'd like to believe that I'm a happy medium of the two. 😂 It all just depends on the situation, really.

I literally question people everyday how some get their license. I'm no slow driver but I'm definitely not trying to be in the Daytona 500 either. Then you have the people who will cross over from the far lane across the entire freeway. Or the ones who never use the turn signal.😒

I know that I’m too kind and a few people want to take advantage of that. But I’m workin on it, I’m not as nice as I was before. The only one I’m still extreme kind to is my little brother 🤣

Myself just follow the speed regulation, because I’m still in the period if I get pullover I can say bye bye for my driving license. So I’m not risking it. I also hate people that don’t use turn signal in traffic.

I'm generally nice to everyone until someone gives me an attitude haha.

I really don't understand why it's so hard for some people to use the stick that's on the side of the steering wheel?! Or how they do it at the last second. Yesterday that happened to me and I had to swerve into the left lane otherwise I would have hit the guy.

My dad installed into me to never trust the other drivers 🤣

It’s hard remembering that stick for some people 😋

I know this may be a silly question, but why are we talking about drunken people on a rabbit forum?Perhaps facebook might be better!

Because when you really need to vent and nobody will listen you know there's no bad in venting on it here wvere everybody is so nice and accepting!

Maybe because this the sub-forum "Let Your Hare Down"? If you read the description of it, this part of RO is meant for topics that are not about rabbits. 😐

Let Your Hare Down
Off Topic: The Place to Discuss Everything BUT Rabbits.

Last time I remember, people are allowed to have feelings about things in their life. People are allowed to vent about frustrations or share excitement in their lives that they normally can't share with others in their personal life. I personally enjoy having all sorts of conversations here with the members, rabbits or non-rabbits. It allows me to get to know them better and I must say, most of the people I talk to on here are pretty freaking awesome.

Just a bit of venting, not really want to take such a thing up on facebook. I could find another forum to vent on but you get to know a few here and can have nice conversation outside bunnies. It’s just a great forum ☺️

I do not drink. You must live in the city. I would just take normal safety precautions to keep yourself safe. I know there are online safety courses for women. Learning self defense is good. Drunk people are annoying and can be dangerous. If you know the kind of drunk a person is, it is easier to interact and help them or get out of the situation.

It all depends on the drunk person and how they react, those that seem friendly I’ll talk, those that get too much into my space I’ll talk but try to get away. Passing through the train stations you can get in really weird situtations with people following you and so on. Following I often text one of my friends or little brother whoever is in the city and they will come meet me up.

Myself live in a small town outside the city but I often before covid-19 spend time in the city.

Aggressive and a bit sexuall drunks I back away and try to not escalate the situations. I know that you aren’t supposed to be alone when it’s night time but the worse situation myself get to handle drunks is in the day time.

If it’s winter time, I react a bit different if you see someone passed out.

But you truly get in annoying situations and I don’t like how unpredictable it can be with some.

I can jump into my older brother defense classes. I know the weak points to hit and get out if I ever get a person pressing me down or strangle grips. My older brother always messed with me like that, even though I found it really annoying I know he used messing around as to teach me stuff ☺️
