From past 2 months i been noticing that my rabbit is eating less and less, day by day. i took him to vet multiple times, they would always give him a injection that would make him start eating but after 2 or 3 days he would stop eating again. Last two week he was fine, eating well and seemed healthy but from 4 days I noticed he have hard time chewing his food. He would like do weird stuff while chewing. Right now he's refusing to eat and eating very less. it's hard for him to chew stuff like carrots or other hard stuff.. so far i'm giving him soft stuff like apples or green leafy veg, i'm taking him to vet today.. It's really sad to see my best friend getting sick :( I don't have rabbit savvy vets around where i live. all the vets in here are for dogs or cats. I don't want to lose him </3 i spend 6 years of my life with him, he's my only best friend :cry2

My rabbit is also grinding his teeth while sitting alone in a corner. i know grinding teeth is a sign of pain and yesterday i noticed, he wasn't as playful too. he was lying down all time time. Whenever he trys to chew it seems like he can't, he would look up and constantly try to chew it. he sometimes also chew on air. I'm not quite sure why but sometimes he would do that... Whenever he chew his mouth is wide open. He's pooping less but haven't stopped yet. I Live in india so most of the vets in here are for dogs... i'm not sure but i think he might have teeth problems Can anyone please help me? I don't wanna lose him :( I Live in amritsar, India, it's not a big city tho. If you can give me some information Like what should i do or anything that might be helpful then i would be really thankful!!! I'll syringe feed him if he stops eat. Hope he get well soon <3 :(

It does sound like it might be a dental problem. You can check his front teeth yourself to make sure they aren't overgrown, but it might be his molars or back teeth that are developing sharp points that can cut the inside of a rabbits mouth, which can cause them to not want to eat. Unfortunately only a vet can correct this. If this is the problem you will need to find a vet that can examine your rabbits teeth and file or burr down any sharp points. This is something that has to be done under a general anesthetic, which can be risky in rabbits so you want a vet that knows what they are doing. If you can find a vet that has done rabbit spays and neuters successfully, then this vet may be able to check and fix your rabbits teeth. This is something that has to be done or eventually your rabbit may just stop eating altogether.

Until then, try feeding your rabbit soft foods. If you feed pellets, you can soak them in warm water and see if he will eat it on his own, or if not try spoon feeding or you may need to use an oral syringe to feed him. It is really important to ensure your rabbit is getting enough food and water, or he will continue to get weak and can develop a digestive blockage. If you can get Oxbow Critical Care, it is a good syringe feeding mix for rabbits. You will also need to syringe water to him if he isn't drinking very well. Make sure if you syringe feed, to do it slowly, giving him a chance to chew and swallow, or you can risk him aspirating the fluid, which is dangerous and can cause pneumonia.
