I remember growing up and my dad told me that the Scottish wearorange on St. Patrick's Day. I didn't realize why until a couple yearsago. One of the reasons for the division of Ireland into North andSouth Ireland is because the North is predominately Protestant(represented by the color Orange) and the South is predominatelyCatholic (represented by the color green). While they war aboutreligion, at least some understand how ridiculous it is.

HappySt.Pats......mygreat grandmother from Belfast Ireland was protestant and married aScot's Man.The familystill wearsgreenBut very interesting M.E. Will fly that by my greataunt thanx!Well,I don't know if it's true or not, but apparently if you're Scottish, you're supposed to wear orange on St. Patty's Day. My grandmother was aScottish immigrant and made all her children wear orange every March17th. *shrug* I played it safe and wore green and orange
*edit* Wait, I found it....
Green is for Catholicism, Orange is for Protestantism (guess where Scotland falls?). So it's a religious protest.
