Hi, my 7 yr rabbit female unspayed showed signs of gi stasis she wasn't eating and pooping but I gave her some meloxicam (pain relief) she began eating an pooping but very little amounts, I thought maybe she was recovering but we are on day 3 I've taken her to the vet and was told she can still have gas trapped within her and after a check up gave her an injection and 1/4 tablet of metociopramide along with critical care. She still in discomfort with grinding her teeth and not letting me touch her. Her poos are oddly colour and I cannot find out why if anyone know if this is something more then gi stasis ? She's already been to a vet and given meds she's eating and pooping little but uncomfortable.

The change in color might be due to liver problems. Reduced bile can cause pale colored feces.

Did the vet take any xrays or do a blood test? The main thing I'd be concerned about being the root cause of the lack of appetite and GI stasis, is the possibility of uterine cancer risks with an older unspayed doe. This is something I would definitely suggest asking your vet to rule out.

If your vet isn't a knowledgeable rabbit vet, I would suggest seeing one. If you're near Melbourne, there's a rabbit clinic there, or you can take a look at the vet list below. I would do this first thing today. With the weekend and Christmas, it may be difficult to find a vet open until Tuesday, after today.

I'm located in Perth and the only vet specialised in rabbits isn't taking appointments til 28th Dec - her poops are a variety of colours and her pee is normal is colour but I'm monitoring her until I can book with a better vet. In the mean time she is still eating and pooping and grooming as per usual. Taking pain relief and critical care.

Do the best you can. I'd keep up with the pain relief and enough critical care feedings to keep her gut motility good, until you can get her back to the vet, or if she gets back to normal behavior and eating before then.
