Found one of the kits in the water bowl...

I found one of my mama's kits in the waterbowl today. It is a 1wk 1day old and luckily alright, there wasnt that much water in it and it was 85 dagrees today, but the little was starting to get cold. I warmed it up and put it back in the nestbox. I put a larger sided bowl in to the cage but is there anything else I can do? Mama will not drink from a water bottle and its not something I want to "force" her to try when she is feeding kits. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.

what kind of nest box are you using?

we are using wood ones to help keep the babies warm. It was made to the same demetions as our metal one from KW Cages.

When I changed out the nesting yesterday (so its nice and clean when they open their eyes, which should be anyday now ) I made sure that there was no nest at the very front. So I am hoping that works util they are really ready to come out.

Do you have a bowl that hooks to the cage? It helps to raise them off the floor.

Not until payday (thursday), I will be getting a smart crock then.

That sounds good. just make sure the walls are high enough the kits cant squirm out.
