Hi Everyone

I'm going to get Luther desexed asap as i definitely want to get him a girlfriend, and as adorable as they are, without the babies too. I was wondering what youthink isthe best age to get him done at? He's only 8 weeks old at the moment and i'll be taking him in for vaccinations and a check-up to my small animalspecialist vet (where i also take my rats :)).

I know I want him desexed for health, agression etc. reason but i just don't know the "proper" age to get him done. I read 4 - 6 months but i've also read by 6 months they can already be agressive and uncooperative?

Help?

You can get them done once the testicles descend. This is usually around 3-4 months. Once the testicles descend, they can start to get hormonal. It does not mean they will automatically be aggressive, spray, hump and have other such behaviours. There are intact as well as altered rabbits that are aggressive. There are many intact rabbits that are friendly, outgoing and great pets.

As far as the age to do it, I would not do it much earlier that 6 months. I do feel they need the hormones to grow and develop properly and most rabbits are considered fully grown around 6 months. 6 months is a good time to do it.
