Hey there,
I've kept rabbits for around 10 years and thinking about starting to breed them. I currently breed fancy mice, so familiar with the ethics of line breeding and have a basic grip on genetics and things.

I've currently got a chocolate butterfly mini lop buck and wanted to do some research into what the genetics are of this marking before I even think about getting a doe. I can't really find any information on the genetics of chocolate butterfly and/or what other colors to pair him with to produce butterflies - or even which to stay away from. Obviously I'd mostly be breeding for type/build over colors, but yknow.

Thanks so much!

You should avoid breeding him to other butterflies imo. That can make charlies. Butterflies & brokens are heterozygous for spotting. If you can find a solid chocolate or other self that would probably be the best thing to breed him to.
