We have two Netherland Dwarf bunnies ... Benji (who is nine and a half) and Luna, who is three and a half.
Benji was initially bonded with a mini lop called Mookie, but we sadly lost her and managed to bond Ben with Luna.
He's like the grumpy Grandad whilst she is the excited little child. However, oh they love one another so much.
Luna was very ill with EC last year and he looked after her; putting his head under hers so she could reach the water bottle and sitting by her side so she could reamin upright.
Thankfully, it looks like, despite cataracts in one eye and reverting back to rolling a little when she is stressed, that she has come through this.
At the time the vet gave her Baytril, Panacur and Metacam. (We usually dose them with Panacur anyway)
Now comes the ..:bigtears: I need advice please.
Ben has been losing weight. When we came back from a two week break I could tell he's lost more despite him having a very healthy appetite and weeing and pooping ok.
I took him to the vets and he very kindly provided a urine sample for the vet who notes there was a small amount of blood in the urine, but nothing significant.
One of his eyes was quite '*****' so she washed both his eyes out and prescribed, Baytril, Metacam and some eye drops.
He has since finished the anti biotics.
Yesterday he got a fright when a cat scared both rabbits. He staggered around and couldn't stand, so we bought him in.
It now seems his back legs have lost power and each time I pick him up he pees. (He has been peeing more often but not 'to order' as it were)
He's eating ... loves his raspberry leaves, drinking, obviously peeing and pooping but his back legs aren't right.
We are keeping him on Metacam and have started a course of Panacur (for both rabbits)
How can I keep him comfortable?
Does anyone else have any experience of this and could it be EC passed on by Luna? (They are in the same cage - it would have been cruel to part them)
Thank you ... x
