Hi All,

We had our male bunny neutered just one and a half months back! Earlier it was too active sexually ,was always on heat and used to spray around a lot! but after the surgery we noticed that its behavior had definitely mellowed down but it still sprays a little and gets into heat occasionally! Is this normal ?:?...we got it neutered from a very reputed doctor .So we have no doubts on the surgery as such !! But really confused on why is the bunny's harmones acting away still????

someone please advice!!

Thanks ,

Bunnylove

every rabbit is going to respond differently to a decrease in hormones. you may see a reduction in aggression and destructive behavior, but you may not. the hormones take, in general, about a month to dissipate,or longer

I think you mean he's acting hormonal rather than being in heat. This is a term for animals like cats & dogs who are not hormonal all the time the way rabbits are. And "in heat" is used only for females.

Have he & your female been put back together? They really should have been kept separate all this time. It's probably best to keep them apart for a little while longer, because he's still acting hormonal. This should stop by 8 weeks, but I guess it could be longer.
