Hey guys...a group I belong to received this plea for help...can you guys give your suggestions?

I need some suggestions and I think you guys are the experts, here.
I have an albino male lop, that I am the end of my rope with. It
isn't his fault, I just can't think of anything more to try. He is
healthy in every other way, except he has some sort of defect in his
butt or penis area, or something. I have had him for 2 years (he's
about 10 years old now) and have bathed him gazillian times, due to
his being wet with urine or having poop stuck to him. I have had him
to my vet, who knows rabbits and done wonders with others that I have
had. His only suggestion is to not have anything in the cage, like a
litter box, for him to get the poop stuck on, and to switch to a
screened floor, so the poop can fall through, which would work if his
poop was all of great shape and hard and could fall through, but not
all of it is. So, he no longer gets a litter box, not even a foot
rester, and I continue to have to give him the bathes, I have trimmed
the hair, used incontinent spray, shampoos etc., he just can't stay
clean or dry. I hate to put him to sleep, because except for that he
seems to be happy and eats drinks and plays with his toys. Oh, and I
work at a shelter, so I was able to call the previous owner after I
adopted him and he said he was that way when he had him, and before
that he had lived for years in a pet store. So, this isn't anything
new.

I don't know what else to try with him, any suggestions? Thanks.

Iris

1. What does he get to eat - EVERYTHING - pellets type, greens type, etc.

2. Ten is older but if he's always done it - then it's something in his diet/body.

Once we know what he's eating maybe we can help.

OKay...going to post that to her...thank you :)

I'll let you know what she says...

Unfortunately, the woman hasn't responded to ANYONE's questions. And there have been five people that have asked her what he's eating, etc.

How can we help someone when they don't check to see what people respond??

I, too, think it's either a dietary thing, or maybe a kidney issue, or something along those lines. It could be something as simple as too much protein in his diet...but we won't know unless she responds.

Hopefully she'll answer today...

Hugs, and I'll keep ya'll informed...

I battled poopy butt with Brindle and S'more.
In the end it was due to to much protien in their diet.
The vet said that's probably why they were both so prone to urine scald, too.
Simply switching them over to timothy pellets from alfafa took care of the problem for the most part.

Someone mentioned a while ago that for bunnies who kept getting poopy butt no matter what their diet was like that metimucal or benefiber worked like a charm...

I hope we can help this bunny :?
