I am glad you had him looked at and he's getting the proper treatment. The vet will keep the details on file. If you're happy with that vet you may want to continue going there for vaccinations etc... so all your health records are kept in the same place.

It must have been a rather deep cut. I am sure he'll be alright now getting looked at by a specialist. Well done! And are you going to tell us the rabbits name at last:)

So far I'm happy with how my rabbit is being looked after, So I most defiantly will be going to that clinic again if they continue to have such high standards. The name is sebastian he is a suki clone. Got him 3 weeks ago, The vet loved him. Please people pray that everything goes ok:pray:.
 
Oh dear, I didn't respond earlier because it just sounded like a scratch. Sounds like he got his nose scraped on something bad! You'll probably want to check the hutch to try to find the cause so you can keep it from happening again. Also, the vet may give you metacam for pain and possibly baytril or some other antibiotic in case they are concerned it may be infected. Please keep us updated with what the vet says.

I collected him and got him set up in my room just there. You wouldn't even notice there was anything wrong with his nose it just looks perfect, That vet clinic is the best thing since slice pan. They gave me some medication that I have to put in his water, Not sure of the name. The medication treatment starts tomorrow evening. He is still a bit groggy, They told me to keep him warm so I have him a hot water bottle. They didn't use stitches because They didn't want to have to take them out. The thing they used will dissolve in a matter of three weeks. Oh and he is in my room because it is the quietest.
 
Also the vet admired how cute and pretty he was, and how she was jealous that we had such a cute rabbit. She also said she was amazed at how well kept he was apart from the nose witch she understood was a freak accident. I was so proud to hear from a vet that she thinks I'm doing a good job:cry1:. Oh and I forgot to say he is going back in on Thursday for a check up. The total procedure today cost €100 and I expect the check up to be €35 so in total €135 but I don't really care about the money because I only care about my rabbits:nerves1.

Rechecks are normally free at our vets unless we need to pick up more medication, or more treatment is needed, etc. It might be different with your vets though... The price for today doesn't sound too bad since I'm assuming he had an aneasthetic as well?

Yes anaesthetic was used, It was €35 consultation, €50 for operation including anaesthetic, and €15 for medication(think it's called maiboiyl) can't really really read writing on the label. I didn't ask about the cost of next consultation or even if there was one, I just wanted to make sure Sebastian was alright.
 
I am really glad you brought your rabbit to see a vet. Where exactly is the injury to the nose? One of my rabbits ran face first into a sofa leg and split open the skin between his nostrils. It bled so much, I couldn't believe it. It must have really hurt too. I wonder if this is something that may have happened to Sebastien as well, and seems likely if he had some room to run and was separated from other rabbits. It is amazing what they can do to themselves.

A broken septum might also be possible, just to warn you in the case that he is showing pain while eating etc. If that is the case the cartilage will have to heal on its own as not too much can be done outside of keeping an eye for infection or abscess. You will probably know if the is the case by the time your follow up appointment is here and pain meds will certainly help with the healing process. Keep us posted!

All my rabbits are separated and are never in contact with each other, Unless there is a planned breeding. I let them have free roam of a BIG kitchen so I don't know he might have done something while outside(But I'm sure I would noticed a cut when I was putting him back into she hutch?). I'm not even sure what happened to the nose but from what I could tell there was a bit hanging off. I am looking for infection. All The vet said was to start giving the the medication in the water and to clean the wound regularly.

Could the medication you've been given be Marbocyl by any chance? I was at my vets yesterday and saw it on the shelf and thought it sounded similar to what you said...


Aside from the name I know nothing about it though!

I'm not sure what it is, Were going in for the check up tomorrow, I'll ask what It is then. I'm also going to ask for some cream to help it heal faster!
 
We brought Sebastian for his check up on thrusday but My internet was cut out because a certain madum tampered with wires:blushan:I still love my baby suki though.He said That Sebastian was very good and the scab should fall off over the next2 to 3 weeks. I'm going to keep him inside for another 1 and a half.

Yup I was real worried going in because I was continuously going in checking on him and I hadn't noticed the swelling had gone down but the vet was like there is good progress so I'm happy!!
