OK, I've heard lots about these sunflower seeds. I've heard that if you feed a rabbit some that it will warm them up kinda like oatmeal, and the other thing I've heard is that improves a rabbits coat, like the feel and the color.

Are these facts true? :?Are there any more things that they do for rabbits?

Thanks,

Karlee

You can give Black Oil Sunflower Seeds in LIMITED quantities. Yes, the oil is excellent for a shiny healthy coat. But the oils are very rich and can add excess weight... (extra fat makes the body warmer) andit can also cause excessive shedding (blowing the coat) if too much is given.

My Mini Rex get 3-4 seeds, twice a week , my adult Flemish get 1/2 teaspoon, (10-12 seeds) twice a week, during the fall and winter. I do not give them during the summer months.

If you do decide to give them to your rabbit, start out with one or two and make sure it doesn't cause any problems. You want the smaller black seeds with shells on... (not the salted ones we eat!)
