I normally try to avoid the stores on Black Friday - but tomorrow morning I'm going to TSC because I can get a cage like Nyx's (huge dog kennel/crate) for 40% off.

It helps that I need some rabbit food too.

Who else will be in the stores - and what stores are you going to ..?

P.S. For those who are wondering - tomorrow is called "Black Friday" because traditionally the sales from this day (which used to start off the Christmas season) - were the ones that would put companies "in the black" (making a profit) for the year. Many times this period - starting the day after Thanksgiving till Christmas Eve - makes or breaks a company if they're having financial problems to begin with.

Interesting fact, for sure, on why it's called "Black Friday". :)

We're doing some BF shopping! I want to go to Family Farm and Home for some horsey and rabbit stuff, maybe TSC, and we're heading to Wal-Mart, Meijer, K-Mart and possibly the mall? It's gonna be a blast! Have fun everyone!

I'm only planning to go to Joann's! I already bought several flannel prints online for $1.99 per yard, but the printed fleeces are going to be on sale for $2.99 per yard tomorrow, plus 20% off the whole order. I don't regret buying the flannels online (even though I didn't get the 20% off, but I did get free shipping) because I know it would have taken me forever to decide tomorrow, in a store packed with people. I may also buy one of those big cutting mats and a rotary cutter and big ruler.

That's interesting Peg.

For me, as a retail worker, "Black Friday" took on the connotation of "death", as it was a horrible day to work! :(

I hate crowds, so I never get up to go participate in early BF sales.

There's still usually one or two things I'm interested in, though, this year it is Best Buy. They have Wii Ski and Snowboard for $14.99. I will be stopping by on my way home from work, when the crowds have died down.

My philosophy is: if they're sold out, I wasn't meant to have it. And I will not have spent $14.99. In past years, I have usually been able to get the things I want in the evening, as I am absolutely not interested in the silly "doorbuster" deals they run to try to get people in. Sure, it's a great deal, but there's only 10 per store, forget it!

Husband might find some other games he wants on sale. Otherwise, I am staying out of the stores today!

I freaking looooove black friday. I really need to start saving next year in advance for BF, so I don't have to use my already overly used credit card :grumpy:. BUT....I'm happy with my outcome! We started at 5am and ended at 8:30am!

Walmart:
14 large towels for the rat cage = $23.
Grand Theft Auto IV for Xbox360 for the husband = $10.
Casino Royale DVD for the husband = $2.
Quantum of Solace DVD for the husband = $9.
Very nice/heavy winter jacket with a bonus jacket = $15.

Target:
6 pairs of undies for myself = $8.
4 pack of undies for the husband = $7.50 (mens undies are sooo expensive!!!).
Superbad DVD = $4.
Observe & Report DVD = $5.
Shirt for myself: $5.

Joann's:
a 2010 AZ Cardinals desk calender for my husband = $9.
10 yards of batting = $15.
1 yard of adorable flannel for myself = $1.50.
2.5 yards of fleece for a no-sew blanket for my dad = $7.
2.5 yards of fleece for a no-sew blanket for my stepmom = $16.
1.5 yards of cotton in a kitty print for pot holders for my grandma = $3.
1 spool of thread = $1.50.

Old Navy:
3 sweaters for myself = $45.
1 shirt for myself = $9.
2 long sleeved flannels for the husband = $10.
1 hoodie for myself = $10.

I think that is about it

.
I spent $214 total, (well...plus taxes) mostly on myself
yelcutelaugh.gif
. I still need to buy a few more Christmas presents for people, which will probably cost me another $100

.

OH! I also bought 32 yards of flannel
shocked.gif
, 8 yards of batting, & some elastic at Joann's for a girl on my rat forum's FN liner sets (the lady at the cutting counter hated me, BTW,

). But, she prepaid me in advance for her stuff!

Ooh Amy, are the sales on the towels at WalMart all day? I knew I shouldn't have bought some on Tuesday!

I'm getting ready to go to Joann's now. I went to bed at 6 am, when other people were already there! I just remembered the 20% off only goes until noon so I hope lines aren't too long and I can pay for my stuff before then. I already have a list of what I need to get.

This is the FIRST year in I don't know how many that I'm not out shopping today. I tried to avoid all the ads so I wouldn't know about all deals I'm missing. I always do my xmas shopping on Black/Green Friday. (I worked at Toys R Us for a long time and we called it green friday because of all the $$$ that came in.)

I made the decision that being 9mos pregnant and all swollen and sore, it wouldn't really be safe for me to be fighting the crowds this year.

i went out, was at Walmart by 4 , then we went to target then Kmart, then out to breakfast, dropped the gifts home and went to see New moon!!!! It was a good day, i spent a ton of money but i got alot of stuff

I feel like I have a hangover....and I didn't drink a DROP yesterday!

We went to a Prime Outlets location that is about an hour away from us. They have "Midnight Madness". So we (my mom, step sister, sister-in-law, and my mom's neighbor) got in our minivan at 10:15 pm last night. Drove to the outlets...had to park way far away in a field (cuz they were directing the TONS AND TONS of cars there....waaaaay too many people!), went through the field, hopped fences with the rest of the crowd...went across the freeway, and shopped until 5:00 am.

Then we drove home (to mom's house)....got home after 6:00, slept until 8:45.....made breakfast....then I drove back to our house and got in about 12:30, then slept until 4:30.

Now I'm making dinner but I feel like complete trash! My head is throbbing and my stomache is so queasy!

But I did get two leather jackets (both from Wilson's, but one is a Nine West), a pair of Vogue sunglasses, and a bunch of clothes from the Gap.

My eyes burn!

And I can't wait to do it all again next year!!!

My shopping went well! I only went to Joann's. Got there at about 10:45 and the line to check out was all the way to the back of the store. I grabbed a ticket for the fabric cutting counter right away. I had to wait at least 45 minutes to get my fabric cut, but thankfully I brought a book! And by the time I was ready to check out, the line had shrunk so much that I only had to wait about 5 minutes. Very nice.

I spent $114. I got 21 yards of fleece (9 different prints), a gigantic cutting mat, a very nice rotary cutter, a big ruler thing to use with the cutting mat, 5 colors of thread, 4 packs of bias tape, 2 packs of red rickrack, and a magnetic pin cushion. Total savings was $237.81!

Went to Best Buy on the way home, they still had a copy of the Wii game that Jason wanted. It wasn't super crowded, only 3 cashiers and we didn't have to wait in line.

At Wal-Mart I got a new set of pots and some rubbermaid containers..since i'm staring out over again..

I got literally 20 DVD's and some video games for my kids at Wal-Mart.

Digital Video camera..

I got a buncha clothes at Old Navy since none of my winter clothes fit anymore.

I also got to witness a very bad domestic dispute between a man and a woman in the Wal-Mart parking lot.. he was punching and kicking her, slamming her head into the truck doors, he then pushed her into the truck and kept slamming the door repeatedly on her legs, and held her arm out of the door and kept slammed it on that too..

The thing that made me sad is everyone pretended not to see while I called 911.

I myself also got trampled a few times.. well they attempted to trample me.. so I lowered a shoulder.. and popped up into them like they were a jammer trying to score.

Derby training is useful!!

WOO! I didn't go out till 10 am today but still scored some major loot!

Snowglobe for $3.99
Ring for my mom and one for me $16.99

I wish! I'm seriously considering buying one for myself! I bought it as a gift for my sister and its already wrapped up. My camera's charger won't work! It's so frustrating! I'm on Ebay right now looking for a new one. I figure I should try the charger first and then break down and buy a new camera if it doesn't work.

We wanted to start out early, but we were up so late that we didn't get out until 9:00am, and we had breakfast out, and by 10:00am we were out shopping!

Two artsy things for my cousin ($8.00 total)
A Halo calendar for my brother ($8.00)

Family Farm & Home:
Suede Jacket for me (Originally $50, onsale for $20)
Horse Knit Hat ($6.99 originally, onsale for $4.00)
Winter Boots
Horse Grain ($11.99 originally, onsale for $9.99)
and some other stuff.

Wal-Mart we bought a whole bunch of stuff. Christmas shirts and pants for my Mom and we bought a DVD/GPS/CD player for my dad's Semi truck for his birthday coming up Monday, and another bath set for my cousin.

Went to Meijer, got dog food on sale and my brother got a model plane for our dad for his birthday.
