I am wondering what I can use as an alternative to hay. I am the primary caregiver to our rabbit (Holland Lop) and I am allergic to hay. What else can I supplement into Mr Feets diet to make up for not giving him hay?

Have you tried the hay cubes? Since they are so compressed you don't get all the dust flying around.

There are also different kinds of hay you can feed, if you are just allergic to Timothy. There are other grass type hays, oat hays ect..

Really there isn't much of a substitute for hay though, it's the roughage they need and hay is really all that supplies that for them.

I'd recommend trying different types of hay too. I've heard that manypeople have fewer allergic reactions to orchard grass, or there are several other types to try too. Sometimes changing the brand helps, because some of the pet store stuff like Kaytee is super dusty.
