My rabbit who is a senior around 10 has an abscess which I can feel under his chin. My normal vet recommended the rabbit specialist at Animates in Market Deeping. She is very good. My vet said it may need a tooth extraction. I am worried but wondered if anyone else has had their rabbit go through this? We go today for the examination.

We had one that was supposed to be an abscess that wouldn't go away--after xrays it turned out to be bone cancer--definitely get to a specialist and I really hope it's nothing more serious than a tooth.

Just back from vet they have done bloods so we will wait for result of that. They are not sure if it is abscess or a tumour. But he needs some dental treatment so they will wait for blood tests to be sure his kidneys etc are ok and up to surgery. He’s ok in himself and eating ok too. Do expensive but when you love an animal that’s secondary. I will keep you posted and thanks

I have been thinking and he’s fine at the moment but I will wait for bloods then it will help. I don’t want to put him through surgery if it’s kinder to let nature takes it course. But keep him painfree

We nursed him along for a couple of months, then, with his health and well being declining we had him put down--my wife took him to the Vet--I just couldn't do it.

Oh that’s the worst decision to ever make. I heard that there’s tablets that remove tumours in dogs but has anyone heard of this for rabbits?

Thank you I will ask them. When he had one before they used a injection used on horses weekly for a month that was 18 month ago

We had his blood results today and they are very good in fact vet said remarkable for his age. She suspects it’s an abscess and has given me various options. So difficult to know what’s best. He is okay in himself good appetite etc.
