I'm new to the forum and wanted to see how activethis forum is. I figured it might have some prettyinformative people on it since this is a bunny's only forum.I have been using Pets Forum's rabbits area. There are somefairly knowledgable people over there, but it's always good to have twoforums to post things on if you have questions or emergancies.

So, my question would be...is this a pretty good/active/knowledgable forum? :)

- Brian C.

umm...yes? people here are really smart....and practically every 5 minutes someone replies to something. its awesome!!!

Hi, Brian. Welcome here! :)

You can form your own conclusions by reading through some of the old messages.

Hope this helps!

Welcome BrianC,

Read a few posts, try it out, and you'll soon have the answer to your question.

We do have people from all walks of life here that all adore theiranimals. We have an ARBA Judge Pamnock, whom we refer to as Doc--you'llsee why. One member works at an animal hospital and has a number ofrabbits, two of our members work at rescue shelters. We have folks thathave been rescuing rabbits for years and years, we have some breeders, members that truly consider their rabbits their children, and peoplethat are brand new.

Jump in and Enjoy.

Hi Brian,

There is a very wide range of expertise on this forum from those whoare experts in house rabbit issues and rabbit behaviorto longtime breeders.

My primary interests are rabbit genetics and diseases. I amalso an ARBA Judge and have been raising rabbits throughout my lifefocusing primarily on smaller breeds over the last 14 years.

As someone mentioned, posts are addressed at a rapid pace on this boardset by the example of our outstanding moderator Carolyn. Shesets the tone here and others follow her example of enthusiasm and onlythe highest standards of ethics and decorum on this board are tolerated.

This forum is like one big family and newcomers are welcomed with open arms!

Welcome!

In addition to confirming all that has beenwritten above, I would like to add that this forum is one of the mostinternational in scope that if has been my pleasure to ever participatein.? We have posters from the U.K., Canada, Taiwan, Singapore, Germany,Russia, and Lituania, to name some countries that come to my mind.?That is in addition to all our American posters.

Another neat thing, in my estimation, is this forum is open to mostforms of rabbit husbandry and does not approach the subject with onlyone purpose or intent in mind, as do some other forums.

You won't find any trolling going on here either.? If one comes aboard, our moderator and administrator make short shift of them and in nary ablink, they?are cast deep into Cyberland, never to be seen again here.

Hang around here long enough and you will get the sense of family thatseems to bond most of us here, even though we may physically be locatedall about the globe.? Most of us care about each other, as well asbeing interested in buns.

I've enjoyed other formats more, but not the forums nearly as well asRabbits Only.? It is certainly worth your while to "lurk" around a bitand take note of what you see.? I'm sure you will find it an amicableplace to spend some time and learn more about rabbits.

Welcome.? Hope to see you around!

Buck

for the Rabbit Lover...

In ourlast issue we talked about making friends, and we suggested that if youare looking for like-minded individuals, ourRabbits Only forumcould be just the place for you! Back in June a bunchof our members got together for a day at the beach. For the first timethese people who know one another under their fictitious user names gotto see one another face to face.

Almost all of us know someone who has datedsomeone--and perhaps even married someone they met online. The internethas opened up a whole new world for us in the relationshiparena.

A littlehistory...Rabbits Only started itsforum back in 1995, and within just a few months our web hostingservice told us we had to go somewhere else. We required too muchbandwidth for their facility (and they were one of the leading hostingvenues in our area). It was obvious that RO was ontosomething.

We then went to a free forum service.Unfortunately, in exchange for that free service, they unabashedlyadvertised to our readers. Eventually that company decided to chargefor their services, locking the RO administrators out of the "controlroom" for the forum. We lost all control over banning foul language, banning members who misbehaved, etc.

After much searching and tryouts and purchases ofseveral packages, this March we finally got our own new forum software, where we maintain all control over our forum. Our first few weeks werestrange. A number of members of the old forum refused to become membersof the new forum. We couldn't quite figure out why you would pledgeallegiance to a forum where no new members could join (since wediscontinued our link). It's like going down with a sinking ship. Butin a few months that has all changed. As of this writing, we have 1130different topics posted, some 400 members and some 13,500messages.

When to come to theforum... Any time of day or night (mysleepless nights can attest to that) you will find someone on theboard. But it doesn't matter whether you're alone or not. With thenumber of different topics, you could spend several sleepless nightsreading up on anything...

When you have a question, concern or something youwish to share: either you can post your question, or you can go throughthe topics to see if what you're looking for has already been covered. There is a great "search" option that will return all posts that coverthe subject you're interested in.

We do have a moderator, so you can feel safesending your children to do research on the board. We forbid foullanguage, as well as unfriendly behavior.

When you're feeling lousy and want an understandingear to listen. Or-when you actually want some advice.

When you want to know what kind of breed is my rabbit? Or at least what mix...

When you're going through RO withdrawal waiting for the next issue to post.
