    protecting bunny from heat wave

Thanks everyone, these are great tips. I don't have air conditioning, otherwise, that's the first thing I'd do! I think then, for Friday, which is supposed to be really bad, I may just keep her in her cage, with some nice cold/cool things, a wet towel and a fan. She doesn't like the ear...

    protecting bunny from heat wave

Hi everyone, I don't post here much, although I do lurk (here and Ontario Rabbit forums) and I was wondering if anyone had advice on how to keep bunnies comfortable during heat waves. Right now, my bunny's "room" is a north facing study with a tile floor. Thankfully the place is always a...

    Peeing outside the litterbox

So this is a newish behavior for Clovis. I suspect it may have something to do with her recent "incarceration" in her bunny room while I was gone on vacation, but since the only time it happened while I was away was when my bunny sitter let her roam around the apartment. Afterwards, he kept her...

    The Rabbit in the Moon

The legend also ties in nicely with the Japanese manga/anime series Sailor Mooon! Seriously! Sailor Moon's real name is Usagi Tsukino which plays upon the old idea of the bunny on the moon, and is responsible for her hairstyle. She has little "buns" yes, but her ponytails are also supposed to...

    Choking on bunny fluff

Help! I inhaled some bunny fluff and it's lodged in my throat. I keep trying to cough it up, but it just lingers there sticking to everything. I've tried coughing it up, eating, drinking - anybody have any tips?

Redecoration OR why I am a bad bunny mama...

Oh, she has a litter box. It's in her large spacious cage and she uses it when she needs to/wants to. But the cardboard caves! Hoo boy! She can entertain herself in there for up to an HOUR at a time. Such times are signified by mysterious rustling, banging noises and the digging and the...

Redecoration OR why I am a bad bunny mama...

So I spent much of the afternoon rearranging my study aka Bunny's day room. Here's the routine- at night bunny is in her cage, in the daytime while I'm at work she's in the study w/the toddle gate set up, and when I come home at night she's free range through most of my apartment (except for the...

    Well this is just.... weird.

No, there hasn't been a problem w/bedtime since that evening, but what she has added to the routine is a quick lap around the study checking out all corners before she goes in. And she's used the new layout to try and get to some new places (i.e. my desk). No, her new annoying thing is...

    Well this is just.... weird.

It is Clovis's usual bedtime (10pm) and normally its a small matter to go into her cage room brandishing fresh lettuce and the top bit of a carrot and she is SO THERE! Tonight, she did indeed follow me back into the room, hop into the cage and then turned to wait for her carrot bit. I gave it...

Spay Quote - Is this normal?

I'm thinking of declining the laser surgery. However, I do wonder if its a good idea to decline the fluids. I believe its used to help keep bunny hydrated and her intestinal tract moving. does anyone know?

Spay Quote - Is this normal?

Guelph is about a 5-6 hour drive away. I think I will look up stuff for Belleville, Cornwall, and Ottawa. I'm tempted to check out Quebec too, except that I worry about the language barrier! Kingston is located at the Eastern most edge of Lake Ontario and is at the junction of the St. Lawrence.

Spay Quote - Is this normal?

Beardall Animal Hospital is where I took her. I didn't want to mention the name. And there's a bunny doctor near where my boyfriend lives (Barrie area) but I'm concerned about the stress of travel. She really does not like travel. I've identified two other veterinary hospitals in the area...

Spay Quote - Is this normal?

I'm in Kingston now, and there's only one vet listed for this area on the Ontario Rabbit website for this area and its her. Plus, I don't have a car, so I can't take her out of the area very easily at all. I'd wish I'd known about the UofT clinic while I was there! I could have really used it!

Spay Quote - Is this normal?

So, I'm new around here and I've looked around for a similar thread but nothing in the next few pages here or in the Infirmrary. When I got Clovis originally, I was living in Toronto and the quote I got was $270. Because I was a poor grad student and was struggling with juggling my own bills...

    Hello from Ontario!

Wow, thanks for your posts! And I'm glad I found a way to get a pic of Clovis as my avatar. Will work on more pics. Clovis is named after a paleo-Indian culture in North America - Clovis points are the earliest established points in North America (but not necessarily the Americas in...

Two questions - spaying and bonding

Hi! I'm here to ask some questions about my bun Clovis. When I got Clovis in February, I found out pretty quick that she wasn't spayed - her former owner didn't see the need. So I've been planning to have her spayed once money and now, time allowed. I was wondering - what kind of care will...

    Hello from Ontario!

Well, I'll try and post this pic of her. We live out in Kingston right now- in fact we just moved here from Toronto!

    Hello from Ontario!

Hi everyone, I'm a fairly recent bunny owner (February 2009) who discovered this site because I realized I shouldn't limit myself to the Ontario Rabbits Forum. Although they're really great over there, they've been having problems with their board, so I googled around and this site really...
