    Broken teeth

Ah! one more little -but important- detail about fruits (=sugar). Bunnies are like most of us, they love sweet stuff. If you give him sweet stuff, he won't eat his healthy food. From what I had seen, they use their back teeth to eat hay so try to give him some nice hay too. Maybe second or 3rd...

    Broken teeth

I would avoid giving him any fruits and banana specially because of the high sugar content. Carrots also have lot of sugar. Giving him large amounts of sugar will mess up his GI and create a more serious problem. If you cannot order the Critical Care or Sherwood SARx online, get some pellet...

    Broken teeth

Oh poor baby! I would take him to a vet that has experience treating bunny's teeth. Meanwhile, help him with the feeding. I would highly recommend Sherwood SARx rather than Oxbow Critical Care. It's more expensive but not crazy expensive and it's 100 times better for your bunny. It does not have...

    Bunny upset by move

have you tried using Rescue Remedy? or the Bach Flower Walnut to adapt to their new place? Rock Rose for fears. They work wonders! Bunnies are sooooo cute!!!!

My rabbit won't eat ANY hay .

well, the good news is that the problem is solved! But just in case: I would have put her back in her old cage to see if not eating hay and eating less was emotional. Some animals (humans included) get attached to their living places. So moving them to a new place or even changing their water...

    Help lethargic bunny

precisely! the same thing as if a human has a shocking experience. But bunnies are much more sensitive. Because bunnies are at the end of the food-chain, they hide signs of pain or stress. BUT they can scream if they have lot of pain or they can grind their teeth loud if they are in pain too. Do...

    Help lethargic bunny

OMG! Bunnies are very delicate animals and this experience could have killed him from a heart attack. He may be super stressed out still. Something that could help him very much is Rescue Remedy, which is for shocks among other things. If you get the one for animals, you can give him one or 2...

    Help lethargic bunny

Thanks Cuteus, it's a good site! I think the key element is the Metacam "CONCENTRATION" used. The one I had used is 1.5 mg/ml. I was told that for this concentration, 1.5 mg/ml, the max x day for a 5.5 lb bunny is 1.2 ml. The concentration is stated in the bottle/box of the product. Maybe if...

    Help lethargic bunny

The metacam my vet prescribed has a concentration of 1.5 mg/ml. If this is the one you are using, 4 ml is way, way, way too much! And he would be super lethargic. However, if you are using a lower concentration than1.5 mg/ml, I do not know what dosage is safe. I hope he recovers well and soon!!

Teeth Trimming: File or Electric Drill?

You are SOOO right! I'll keep it in mind: experienced and honest. Honesty is key because if he/she made a mistake or something like hurting the cheek, and says nothing, that can bring lot of problems. You are blessed having an experienced and honest vet!

Teeth Trimming: File or Electric Drill?

thank you, Cuteus, very much for the article. It has very good info. I had to read it by stages because it impresses me :o/ Oh picture # 9 is horrible! they trim the bun teeth with nail clippers!!! No mention of "files" as a method to trim the teeth. This is a wake up call for me because the...

    Help lethargic bunny

The METACAM dosage that is in the Internet is for cats and dogs. My bun is 5.5 lb and what I had learned is that the MAX of Metacam x day I could give her for serious stuff is 1.2 ml. It would be much safer if you give him 0.5 ml or 0.5 ml twice a day. Even though it is recommended to give one...

Teeth Trimming: File or Electric Drill?

The vet is the one that uses the file method to trim the bun's teeth. I wouldn't dare to do it! However, another vet told me that she uses electric drills. But I could not find what are the advantages/disadvantages of each technique. I have learnt that the apple sticks or any toy will help with...

Teeth Trimming: File or Electric Drill?

Yes, it seems the "files" are like the nail files but made of metal. I could not find any info about them so I wonder if this is an old technique. However, some vets use it.

Teeth Trimming: File or Electric Drill?

Sorry for my many questions! but do you have an opinion on which methodology: file or electric drill is safer, less aggressive and efficient for teeth trimming? Thank you!

    Tooth root abscess

I hope the bunny lover community can help me. I took my bun to an exotic vet because she has not been eating as normal. The vet asked for a CT scan and said that my baby has a tooth root abscess. Because of its location, it cannot be cleaned with surgery. Also the vet said that because of its...

    My bunny hates hay

Here is the link but you can get them at Amazon too: https://store.sherwoodpethealth.com/adult-rabbit-food/ I bought it from Amazon because I needed it fast so Prime helped. However, I may buy it from Sherwood directly next time because I have the feeling it will be fresher. Thanks Saltflower...
