    Fur and ear mites

I used Xeno 450 to treat my rabbit's ear mites. You put the drops on the back of the rabbit's neck and down its spine and repeat at the intervals stated (every 2 weeks x3). It works very quickly.

    Fur mites

I'm hoping it'll be ok. I chucked out anything that she came in contact with in the conservatory. We've only just had the conservatory replaced so it was empty apart from her stuff. Luckily, it's a vinyl floor so was easy to clean. I did the house as a precautionary measure and will keep...

    Fur mites

Thank you, Cloverhouse. I'll retreat her and also treat my rabbit as a precautionary measure. I actually ended up taking her to the vet as I saw a much larger black insect crawling on her head and managed to catch it. The vet confirmed that it was a flea and what I thought was mites was...

    Rabbits feet sore?

I use short pile carpet mats which are a bit longer than normal. You can also use hallway runners. They're easy to put away if you have guests. My elderly rescue rabbit had arthritis and had visible holes in her fur. After I laid the mats down, the fur grew back in under two months.

    Rabbits feet sore?

It is most likely due to your rabbit hopping around on the hardfloors with nothing to grip onto. The pressure becomes greater on that area and the fur is worn away. Try to keep your bunny's nails short and put down mats for your bunny and the fur should grow back in a month or so.

    Fur mites

Hi, I have just adopted a rescue rabbit and noticed, within an hour of bringing her home, that she had fur mites. I have treated her with Xeno 450 (Ivermectin) drops onto her skin. She was in a separate playpen to my rabbit (the floor was covered) and I have now put her playpen in the...

    Bonding issues

    I think we're almost there :)

    Bonding issues

Update: I just found my two bunnies squashed together side by side in their litter tray. :) This is the first time they've really snuggled up together, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they've come to some kind of agreement and have fallen in love. They've spent the last week with my...

Easier ways to keep bunny area clean?

My rabbit never pees outside of the litter box, however, he once peed on a fleece blanket left on the floor. Could it be that the blanket is nice and soft, so your rabbit thinks it is a nice absorbent place to pee?

    Bonding issues

Hi, I think they were better together after about 6 weeks when they started using each other's preferred litter tray when it wasn't occupied. Before that, there was a lot of sitting outside the litter tray eating the hay. One or the other would also lie in the tray a lot, and they seemed to...

    Bonding issues

Hi, Having watched my bunnies since my last message, it seems that it is just part of the bonding process. I think that it just takes a little longer for some pairs. My boy will demand grooming and will nip at my girl or chase her at times. I reckon that the girl wants to be top bunny too...

    Rabbit fall head injury?

Hi, I'm glad that your bunny is back to normal now and has recovered from his fall. It's such a worry when they hurt themselves!

    Rabbit fall head injury?

Hi, This happened to my bunny a few years ago. He jumped from my arms as I was putting him down and he landed awkwardly and behaved in the same way yours did. I watched him for a few minutes afterwards and he seemed fine. I'm sure his neck must have been a bit sore afterwards though, but he...

    Bonding issues

Thank you for your reply and apologies for not giving a clearer picture of the situation. Your description is an accurate account of the situation. Yes, the rabbits spent two weeks being bonded at a rescue centre. They came home bonded, but without a strong sense of who was dominant. The...

    Bonding issues

I have recently bonded my rabbit with a rescue rabbit which went fine. However, they've been home for almost three weeks now, but they don't seem to be grooming each other or sitting beside each other much. The male rabbit demands to be groomed, which the female rescue rabbit does (I think...

    Trimming lionhead's mane

How's Fred doing with his new haircut? Did you take anymore off the sides? I'm sure it'll grow back soon. My little lionhead's fur is growing fast, it's becoming hard to tell I took the ends off. I think it's because she is so fluffy, that she looked a bit strange without all that fluff. I...

    Trimming lionhead's mane

Wow, that's a lot of fur you shaved off! It must be extremely hot where you are. I'm sure he'll be much cooler now. It must be quite tricky using shavers. In comparison, I only gave my lion head a really tiny trim around her skirt/face.

    Trimming lionhead's mane

How cute! I love the colour of his fur. Although I feel bad that my trimming skills weren't too good, my little lionhead is definitely more comfortable. It's not too bad really - she had so much fur around/on her face that she looks a bit strange without it being really long. I think...

    Trimming lionhead's mane

Hi, Thank you, that is a bit comforting as I feel really bad. I used hairdressing scissors to trim her fur. It was quite hard to trim her mane as I was scared of cutting her whiskers off. So, she has a bit of a choppy look at the moment which I feel really bad about. Her skirt was really...

    Trimming lionhead's mane

Hi, I trimmed my lionhead's mane as it was preventing her from seeing properly/cleaning herself. I think I took a little more off than I should have done. Will it regrow again? How long does it usually take to regrow? She doesn't seem bothered by it and is grooming herself a lot more now...
