Anyone else got Velveteen Lops? Here's mine!

I think rabbity agility would be very fun for 4-H kids, as well. I might have to suggest that to our local kids to see if there may be some interest in something like that. And the Astrex looks very interesting-I wonder if it will be become a breed eventually?

Kipcha, your guys are adorable! The Astrex seems like a interesting breed-are they recognized in Canada? Also-are you doing rabbit agility?? Too cute! I have wanted to get into it since hearing about it last year but I dont have the right rabbit or the resources at the moment!

Anyone else got Velveteen Lops? Here's mine!

Yes, they are indeed not recognized yet. There are the French, Holland, Mini and English Lops that are all recognized by ARBA. I am pretty sure they are hoping the Velveteens will be passed as a breed by next year, but things have been up in the air for this breed for awhile now. They just can...

Anyone else got Velveteen Lops? Here's mine!

Anyone else on here share the love of this breed like myself? Here is my two year old harli Velveteen Lop doe, Ella. She can be a bit grumpy at times but I love her anyways. She originally came with her sister Charlotte, who I lost unfortunantely last year to teeth issues. This breed sure does...

    New with bunny issues!!

For the one that is protective over his cage: is he fixed? He is definitely defending his territory. If it were my rabbit I would just be very assertive and use some kind of glove protection to handle him to start forming some kind of bond with him. He isn't too old yet. For the shyer guy I...

Hock sores on a 1yr old rabbit

My other Velveteen Lop used to get sore hocks and she too was in a solid bottomed cage with thick bedding (shavings and straw) She had thinner pads on her back feet. I used to raise Mini Rex and they were always a bugger to get rid of sore hocks on. Some rabbits, who may be more nervous, stomp...

    Ella

I got Ella from a Velveteen Lop breeder from downstate MI almost two years ago already. She came with her sister, Charlotte, who unfortunantely passed away last spring due to deformed teeth. She can be a bit grumpy and high strung but I adore her anyways!

    Snuffles in a Rabbitry...WWYD?

Ladysown and RoyalLions, that is exactly how I feel about it really. It just makes me sick to think about my current rabbit getting it, let alone when I get my next breeding pair. Its just that you hear so many different stories and what people are willing to go through to keep these rabbits...

    My buns have to go.

Aww, you can really tell they have bonded from the last photo :( I completely understand about the time restraints-I got out of rabbits for awhile due to not having time for them. Hopefully you will find them a good home and maybe in the future you can get more. Good luck!

    New French Lop litter

Aww, so cute! :) I can't wait to see close-up photos. Happy to hear you are feeling better. I had the flu around New Years and it kicked my butt for a month lol

    Favorite breed?

Velveteens first, Belgian Hares second :) I like the unusual breeds.

    Snuffles in a Rabbitry...WWYD?

I don't currently have this problem **thank goodness** but I have before. I ended up destroying all the rabbits. A friend of mine ended up with it in her Rabbitry and only destroyed two or three, the ones that really showed symptoms. One doe she kept, and she supposedly "got over" her symptoms...

    What breed is my bunny?

Yup, a very cute Lionhead :) She must have been someone else's beloved pet at some point.

    Hello from MI!

Thanks everyone! :) I will make sure to post some photos when I get to an actual computer!

How old is too old for first litter?

I have always heard you want to breed them within the first year. After that it is unlikely that the doe will conceive after that.

    Hello from MI!

Hi there :) My name is Emily and I am here to join in on some fun bunny conversation. I currently just have one rabbit, a two year old Velveteen Lop named Ella; however, I am looking to get back into Velveteens on a small scale this spring or early summer. I used to raise/show rabbits for 4-H...
