Bunny Needs Home - Special Needs (Southwest OH)

Hello all, I have posted about my boy a few times, and I'm happy to say he's come a very long way since we got him. He does not lunge as much, and is not biting as badly. He has malocclusion and gets his teeth trimmed every 4-6 weeks. Because of this, we have been unable to find him a suitable...

    Pellets not needed?

Aw, thank you. I'm really glad that we got the opportunity to show them good things in life. I adore them like crazy and can't imagine that people would be physically abusive towards any animal, let alone something small and defenseless. We're very very lucky to have our little furballs. :)

    Pellets not needed?

Thank you for your input! I had read that commercially prepared diets weren't necessary as long as they had hay and veggies, so that's why I figured I'd ask. If there's a real reason to keep him on pellets, I definitely will. Just got to get him off the mess that he's on now. It's Sunseed...

    Pellets not needed?

I think I can order Oxbow when I order bedding, so I may switch him to that. Hay pellets... I think I've seen those. If I can find some that come in the same way that his food pellets come, he may eat those. We tried cubes and he wouldn't touch them. His back teeth seem to be alright, but his...

    Pellets not needed?

Quick backstory. I have Bunny, the biter who prompted my username. He still bites, but he lets me pet him now and I don't have to dive and duck and barrel roll to get him out, clean his cage, or take him to the vet. He does have terrible teeth that have to be trimmed every four weeks. He was...

    One bunny or two?

I am thinking we will likely get another bunny to bond it to once it's older and fixed. Our current bunny was an abused rescue and he's managed to draw blood on us a few times. I am sort of worried that he wouldn't be very nice to another bunny.

    One bunny or two?

If females can be territorial and grumpy, does that mean that males aren't? The male we have now is very territorial, so I'd love to minimize the possibility of that in whichever sex we get. We will likely be getting whichever sex we get spayed or neutered before they're a year old. I don't...

    One bunny or two?

Thank you for your advice! The person with the bunnies said that they have pedigreed parents who've been shown, so I'm hoping that means she will be able to sex them pretty well and I won't get any surprises, lol. They aren't ready until the beginning of July, so they're still small. I think...

    One bunny or two?

So, we are thinking of adding another bunny or two to our home. We haven't had baby bunnies in a long long long time. Maybe since I was a child. Our current bunny came to us as an adult. (He's doing well, by the way. Still lunges, but we can handle him more. His teeth need to be trimmed monthly...

    Lump on Belly.

Yeah, she's assured me that she's getting him into the vet, she was just hoping to walk in there with a bit more information as to what it could be. I'll update when I know more.

    Lump on Belly.

I thought at first that it might be swollen testicles, but then she said he's neutered. I also thought maybe a hernia or something. I'm waiting for her to get back to me with a bit more information of its location.

    Lump on Belly.

Additional info; It is a male bunny and he is nuetered. The lump is a bit off to the side of his genitals.

    Lump on Belly.

Sorry for the vague information I'm about to give, but I'll describe everything that I know. This isn't my rabbit, but a friend I only know through the internet. To make matters more difficult, I'm in the states and she is overseas. The rabbit has a lump on its belly. She is getting the money...

    Teeth Trimming

Teeth are trimmed! They're abit uneven but much shorter than they were! He goes back in in a month and a half for another trimming. Here's hoping it means he'll start eating hay and grooming normally.

    Teeth Trimming

Thanks guys, I'm glad to hear that it's more common to trim them every month and a half to two months rather than every other week or something. I'm going to ask the vet to show me how to trim, but if it's difficult, we'll just be going in.

    Teeth Trimming

Well, Bunny's runny nose has all but gone away, but I have noticed him grooming oddly. I made a post about overgrooming, but I came to realize that he was mostly just drooling all over himself and soaking his front feet, not actually chewing fur. So, I took everything out of his cage and...

    Overgrooming?

Also, I have no idea what his issue was this morning. I was sick last night and slept through feeding him at his usual time, so when I woke up very early (Like 5am), I went ahead to give him food. And when he yawned, he had hair stuck in his teeth. He's no longer moulting and I am able to brush...

    Overgrooming?

I'm definitely not going to give up on the hay. We'll keep trying. He seems to be alright with this brand (Oxbow Timothy). But I'm very tempted to buy alfalfa hay next. Is it terrible for adult rabbits? Isn't it sweeter, maybe he'd like it more? Is third cut better? I have to run to the...

    Overgrooming?

Okay, good. I was definitely worried about the hay. He nibbles it. He's super picky about veggies, too. But he's a a great lover of pellets. He's terrible for laying in his box. But he's also stopped using it as faithfully as he was before he got sick. Now he lays in one corner a lot and...

    Overgrooming?

Bunny's snotty nose has mostly cleared up, but we have a new problem. I first noticed a small wet patch on his side and a small bit of missing hair about a week and a half ago. I figured he'd just accidentally pulled a bit too much out and it'd grow back. We have been working on brushing and...
