Yesterday, my youngest sister and I got matching tattoos to honor my dad, as part of his Christmas gift. Since he was in the Army for 21 years, we got a pair of dog tags on our feet, with a chain wrapping around our ankles. One dog tag says "My Hero" and the other has his initials... MJB.

I just want to say, never again. That was excrutiating. My sister barely reacted... She's a moose of a girl. I on the other hand... Well we'll let the pictures do the talking.

Everything is great, we're signing release forms.

My sister, totally fine. She didn't flinch or anything.

Me breaking out from nerves. (My wedding band on a necklace there).

Hope my dad appreciates this.

Very cool :)!

Don't give up on tattoos....they are so fun and addicting! My first tattoo ever was my huge chest piece, even though it was broken down into 5 sessions :p.

Haha... Notice the tissues on my lap in the first picture of me in the chair, and notice where they are in the second picture of me in the chair. LMAO! I just realized that.

Yeah, what a bad placement choice for your FIRST tattoo... AND I was sick on top of it, haha. It's still tender today, but I can walk! LOL.

He said the worst places were your wrist, your ribs, and the top of your foot, pain wise. I was like... Great... Around my ankle actually wasn't too bad. He acted like the back of it was really going to hurt. And I was like "Please just do more stuff back there!!!" It wasn't bad at all. The worst was when he had done everything but the highlighting, and everything was already done and hurting and starting to swell, and he went back and highlighted... I couldn't stop myself from squirming!!

Awesome tattoo!

I got my first on top of my foot as well - I have an American flag in honor of the family who boarded their pony at a farm I worked at - their oldest son died in the first tower on 9/11.

The worst part was when he hit the tendons and my toes would twitch... it didn't hurt - was more like a mild electric shock.

It's art with a meaning... contemplating tat #2 myself!!!

It looks great!
The top of your foot is one of the harder places though! You are brave!!!

I did ok with my arm...but my back..OUCH! Every other minute I kept asking to take a break lol...could be why I do not think it came out good...I made the guy keep stopping...

Can not say I am all too inclined to get another...though I have considered one more on the inside of my left arm...

It looks great and what a special thing to do! I got my first tattoo this summer of my rabbit Nibs who passed away, and it hurt but not that badly.... it took 3 hours. I'm addicted now though and can't wait to get my next one of my Prairie dogs.

I think your feet is a more tender place.... but way to go for being brave and getting it finished! ;)

You're a much braver woman than I! No tats for this gal. It is outstanding and you'll be happier when the pain goes away. A friend of mine with several tats said the one on her upper back (just under the neck) was the worst. You would think they could inject some novacaine or something.

Nice tats! :hearts

Hubbs and I have semi-matching name tattoos and I also have one of my favorite comic book character. I hope to get more next year. :)

Hubbs almost passed out when he got his because he has a fear of needles. I got mine over my spine and holy crap my spine was on fire for 2 days. LOL.

From the mouth of a local tattoo guru, "It only hurts until the pain goes away."

Braver than I too! I've kept looking at them and looking at them, but always once i get the money together, i bail out - cause I'm a Chicken!!! pain isn't a problem for me, i've been running around riding horses with no artilidge in my toes and not much left in my ankles so I've gotten used to the levels of pain there. built a good tolerance too. Just soemthing about needles and ink in my skin doesn't sit well with me.

Very cute and thoughtful idea!

I think you're the first person that has said, no more tattoos! I think they're so addicting!

I'm about like your sister though, I just about fall asleep getting mine.

as i always say ever time i go back for more ( a full back piece a half sleeve on an arm and a leg) the pain is temporary but the art is forever and it always makes it worth it, and also both me and my hbby are in the army and that is an amazing honor and privladge for someone to do something like that ur dad will be proud
