Hello. I just noticed part of fur missing on my bunny's back foot. It's right by the bend, it was bleeding last night and today is red. I don't feel any swelling. He is 7 y.o., hopping as always, does not seem to have arthritis. He is free roaming and I'm enclosing photo of the floors. Just cut his nails last week.
This happened a month ago in the same place. I was grooming him and noticed the blood. I thought I ripped a piece of fur out by accident but yesterday I did not touch him at all.
What do you guys think it is before I see the vet next week?
p.s. sorry for bad photos.

Hi,

that's called "sore hocks", if you use that as search term you'll find a lot of threads about it.

Reasons for this can be wrong flooring, like hard floor or abrasive carpets - my buck got it in spring because he followed his cuddlebun all day in an awkward position trying to hump her, and he did miles on asphalt each day. I fenced off the asphalt part of the yard off, covered the whole floor in my house with carpets, cardboard and rugs. I put on an ointment the vet gave me (Mirfulan, nothing fancy, just a skin care stuff) and it got better. I also removed a clump of fur from his foot, may have contributing, but in his case I'm sure it was the hard flooring.

Edit: just adding a picture from my buck, to be sure were' talking about the same thing

Yes, it looks the same but it's not on the sole. It's on the bend of leg and foot. How do you keep ointment on while the bun is moving around and prevent him from licking it off? Tried to put a wrap on, he manages to take it off.o_O
