So, I wanted to take my bunny on a hike, I would bring water, food, snacks, a leash and harness (He doesn't mind wearing a harness and he's very laid back and loves running around outside), as well as bring one of those pet carrier backpack. This: one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073XHDTTF/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20

We would only be hiking for about 2 hours. I was planning on keeping him in the backpack while walking, but then stop every once in a while and put him on the leash to let him run around. Do you think it would be okay to bring him hiking with me? If so, is there anything else I should bring or get?

Most rabbits are not comfortable in unfamiliar places. They don't 'enjoy' exploring strange places like a dog might. There may also be unknown parasites or insects where you hike or even plants toxic to rabbits (domestic rabbits have lost ability to know which are toxic). It sounds like such a venture would be stressful for any rabbit and potentially risky. Rabbits aren't dogs and aren't going to appreciate such 'adventure.'

If your rabbit is ok with a harness, I'd suggest keeping his running around to a familiar yard -- not only familiar but one that you know does not have pesticides, fertilizer or weed control.

He may do ok kept inside a safe carrier, but I wouldn't let him out. I'd keep him supplied with hay and water (no pellets, which should be limited anyway, and no treats either, since the combination of treats and stress doubles the chances of GI stress.)

I have taken my rabbit to soccer games , and she loved it . She didn’t mind wearing the harness . I think it would be fine as long as it is not a really long hike . But it is great for your rabbit to get exercise-and be in nature

Just a caution, ava, that a soccer field is likely to have been treated with weed killer, fertilizer or pesticides. It could cause harm to a rabbit who eats the grass. Unless one is sure about how grass in a given area has been treated, it would be best to keep bunny off of it. Bunny also risks picking up fleas, mites or ticks.
