I live in New England and it gets below zero here. My mini-rex do just fine and have never lost one to the cold. They are in an uninsulated but not heated addition on my garage. The windows are open every day for ventilation. I give them hay and extra feed such as sunflower seeds in the cold...
One of my best mini-rex brood does ever was booted and weighed 5 lbs. She produced many grand champions brokens with spotted as well as blanket patterns as well as some booted, one of which is a current brood doe I am using. I bred her mostly to broken bucks and got awesome babies. Don't be...
I lost a couple of kits and they had potty bellies and loose stool. I treated the whole herd with corid and didn't lose any more. I now treat my whole herd in the spring and fall.
Spray with white vinegar and put on the cornstarch. Let is dry and brush out. You may have to do this more than once. My bucks are not allowed to see each other so no sprayers here. They only do it if they see each other normally.
At this point in her pregnancy the fetuses are only the size of a large grape so she really wound't be that large yet. About 3 weeks along they feel fuller and at 4 weeks if they are carrying a large litter their abdomen will feel very full and taut.
If it were me I would give her all the pellets she will eat, dry oatmeal, black oil sunflower seeds and calf manna. I would also giver her dry day old bread. I know I am going to catch flak for this but I would limit the hay and greens. I would rather have her eating the high calorie foods to...
The bucks are capable of inpregnating a doe around 3 months old and the does could get pregnant at that age if they are on the larger side. I would separate them at no later than 10 weeks, 8 weeks is preferable.
I use Evans and a calendar. I do most of my breeding in the fall for mini-rex nationals in the springand in the spring for convention. I do have a litter or two going most of the time though.
It depends on what is behind them. There is a very good chance you will get castors and broken castors. You can also get black and broken black and if they carry dilute you could get opals and blues. You could also get some surprises like white if it is behind them.
The does look like mini-rex without the dwarfing gene and the buck looks like maybe a mini-rex netherland cross. You are going to get some funky colors crossing harlequin/tri and silver marten.
