Arnica is a well known homeopathic that is used for pain. I used it myself for arthritis. Available at any health food store. It was suggested by my vet who uses homeopathic remedies as well as medicinal ones.
Rocco did not require medication for this - just a change in diet to all hay. After his poops became normal for a week I introduced a small amount of pellets, increasing each day or so to his regular amount of 1/8 cup. I use them as treats because I am not willing to upset his GI tract again...
UPDATE: Rocco is eating his hay and drinking water but he is obviously in pain. I was able to talk to the vet but not meet with him. He advised giving him arnica in his water for the pain but that will take a while to take effect. Has anyone had luck with other pain relief methods that might...
Our sweet Rocco continues to keep us on our toes. In the past week or so he has been drinking more than usual, eating plenty and peeing and pooping a lot. He's started to pee outside the box. There is only one rabbit vet anywhere in our area and it took 2 weeks to get an appointment for him on...
I just rented 2 places for 2 months each next summer through Airbnb and although they are not listed as pet-friendly they had no problem with our bunny. I let them know he is litter-trained, is restricted to one area during the day and sleeps in a hutch at night. Only one place where I inquired...
UPDATE: His chin is not as wet but when I dry it by dabbing it with a paper towel there is a yellowish tint. I first assumed it was hay stain but there was a tiny spot of red, too. I think he might have a little tear in his skin. If I can't get him to the vet sooner is it safe to try Vetericyn...
I'm trying the water bottle because his chin and neck fur were getting wet when he drinks from a bowl. I'm thinking that since he has zero problem eating that it might not be his teeth but the shape of his adorable little face.
I have all wood floors which my bun did not like so I got a large outdoor carpet which now defines his area (and happens to be the color of hay since he is a messy eater!) When it gets dirty I take it outside and hose it down. Fortunately he has no interest in eating the carpet!
Thanks, I am sure he did not put him under since it was not an issue then. I trimmed his fur under his chin and that has helped. Still working on the water bottle!
Our Rocco has developed a new issue. We switched him to an all-hay diet this past month because of a digestive issue and it worked. Because he really increased his hay consumption he also drinks a lot more water. We noticed his chin was often wet so dried it off regularly and trimmed the fur a...
UPDATE: After 2 weeks on a hay-only diet Rocco is back to normal - yeah! The vet found nothing wrong with him. Since his favorite toy is a toilet paper roll with folded ends filled with hay and a few pellets that he loves to roll around til the pellets fall out, he did say that was OK. Rocco...
Thank you! glad you have worked out a good diet for your bunny. I am hoping that is all it will take but we will see on Tuesday. I did switch to Oxbow pellets a while back for that same reason.
He is actually eating a lot more hay without the pellets (which I stopped a few weeks ago.) I was surprised at how much more since he only got a small amount of pellets. He did not eat as much last night or this morning but when I opened the bag to freshen it up he jumped right in and ate for...
