Some of you are familiar with this issue, but my bunny got starched in the eye by the cat. It must have happened Thursday night, but we didn't notice until Friday morning. As soon as I noticed, I wanted to get it checked out ASAP as there was a holiday weekend coming up. I made so many calls and tried to find someone who dealt with rabbits, and had the soonest possible appointment. I found this one guy in Delaware on the Kirkwood highway. VCA Kirkwood Animal Hospitalâ to be specific. The receptionist said they deal with Rabbits. So we made the appointment at 2:30 and my father and I rushed down there as soon as we could, and got there on top. I was freaking out and wanted him to be seen quickly. We had to wait for an hour so the doctor could give a new puppy his shoots. And just horrible service, whatever is whatever. I was really concerned about poor bunny. So finally at 3:45 the doctor came in to check him out. He gave him a "routine exam" and said his nails were fine, when in reality they are very long, we are just nervous to clip them. It just goes to show maybe he didn't deal with rabbits. Then he claimed the doctor who deals with rabbits was out for the day. So why claim you deal with rabbits when you don't? Anyways he stained Bucky's eye said the scratch was deep but nothing to worry about, just put these drops in, he'll be fine. Next day it got worse. I freaked out, I got on these forums. People said take him to the emergency room and I did. I went to the University of Pennsylvania and they didn't tell me what i wanted to hear, but I must say they were very professional, and knew what they were doing! The eye specialist was out, but had I gone there on Friday, it may be a completely different situation.
But what should I do about this vet, the receptionist clearly misrepresented the practice, or he might have thought more of himself than he was. The fact is I really feel like i was mislead by him, and he clearly had no idea of the seriousness of the situation. I don't want him possible hurting other animals due to his negligence as he did mine.
It's just like I wish they had been honest about the experience with rabbits, and had they told me their rabbit doctor wasn't it, i would have went elsewhere. To someone who may have helped. If i went to University of Pennsylvania to being with that Friday, I may have seen the eye doctor then, and we'd have gotten the urgent care then and there!
Had he been a human doctor, I would have sued him for malpractice, but this is a different situation, i know that much. It just pisses me off that he took my $155 under false pretenses acting like he knew what he was doing. I'm not exactly rich. You know had he been honest, University of Pennsylvania would been my second option. I would only paid $206 to University of Pennsylvania, that money I paid them I have no objection what so ever due to their extremely professional and knowledgeable service. At that who knows had i gone to University of Pennsylvania at the start, Bucky's eye may be in a different situation, I am not sure. But the fact he shrugged it off as nothing, i trusted him as a professional.
If someone sells you a broken good or faulty service, that may have actually put you in a worse situation than you were originally in, what recourse do you have?
