What breed could this be?

A person I know rescued this rabbit and they are certain that it is an English Spot or Checkered giant. I have had 2 English Spots and I've seen plenty of Checkered Giants so I know very well what they look like and I know that this rabbit is not either of those. But can someone give me an idea to what sort of breed or mix this rabbit really is so I can explain it to the owner? Thanks

Can't really see well enough, but, looks to be a mix--maybe some Rex in the pool.

Yep, he looks like a mix. In fact, he looks like a lot like my bunny Cheeto. Cheeto is a Rex/English Spot mix.

There are so many breeds with that pattern, it's difficult to take a guess. The long coat could indicate the influence of a breed with angora in the background (which are many) including the lops. A weight would be helpful to know.
