I just can't seem to find a definitive answer. Any idea what breed my buns are?

Tobius (6.5 lbs, 11 months old)

Balthazar (5.5 lbs, 11 months old)

Do you have any other pictures of tobius as in any body type or profile views?

I think Balthazar is a magpie harlequin. Max weights for those is 9.5 lbs.

I agree that Balthazar is probably magpie harlequin, at 5.5 lbs he would just be underweight for the breed. He has an interesting brown/black shading to his color.

Tobius is really an unknown, but pretty.

Have a good day!

I supposed he could be Polish. He's generally very calm and is not territorial at all. I can reach in his cage and move things around, add things, take things away, and he doesn't care a bit (even while he's in the cage). I find this a bit odd because neither him nor Balthazar are neutered yet (mainly because I have to wait for my tax-return money to afford it).

Any other ideas?

What's strange is that I was told that Balthazar and Tobius came from the same liter. Is it really possible to have two very different rabbits in a single liter? I'm sort of clueless when it comes to this stuff.

If they're mixed breed, absolutely. Some of the bunnies will take more after their mom and some will take more after their dad. Kinda like humans. ;)

Tobias definitely has an Elop look to him with those HUGE ears!

Hope that helps!

Rue

Thanks, Rue! I figured it was possible, I just wasn't sure.

After looking at pictures of Elops, I might have to agree with you. His body type is very much like an Elop. I'm just going to have to accept the fact that they are both very mixed and I may never know their complete ancestry. :(

Omgoodness after toby said that i looked at his face and was like whoa! I would definately say English lop mix.

And balthazar being at 5.5 i think he would be under his weight but i dont have a standards book with me.

I agree, Tobius definitely looks like a English lop mix! The picture where he has his head on the ground does it for me, English Lops always have their eyes like that when posed!

Balthazar does look like either a chocolate or a black magpie Harlequin.

and 5.5. pounds is all he will weigh and he's over a pound underweight for the breed.... as are most Harlies unfortunately =(

Well, we got them June 9, 2010. We were told they were about 8 weeks old at the time, so we are assuming they were born in April.

Granted, the first weights that I posted (6.5 and 5.5) were when I weighed them in the first week of February, so over a month ago.

Here they are within the first few days that we had them...
