I'm currently on the look out for a professional service of a pet sitter for our two beautiful buns. I live in the West End, Vancouver.

I'm pleased to say two petsitting companies have stepped up and offered their services. I'll be meeting with them shortly and will feedback their names for anyone else out there who could be interested.

Has anyone else had experience of either a live-in sitter or one who visits for a few hours per day?

We're looking only for athree days and no one we know is avilable for these times unfortunately. The situation is not ideal and I'm nervous about leaving my babies with a stranger :?, although as a professional service this is their job!

Thanks, Rosanna

Hopefully one of our Vancouver members can help you out! We have lots in that area who are very experienced with bunnies. You have to be careful with professional ones who might be costly but not know a lot about rabbits and what to watch for.

A few reliable members in your area are Jordiwes, Pipp, Spring and PixieStixxxx jut off the top of my head- you might try PMing them to see if any of them are available or know someone who can help.

Best wishes!

Haley

Thanks, Haley, I will reach out to Pipp and see who she can endorse :D

Ofcourse current bunny owners are busy busy with their own and I would not expect them to have to spread their valuable time even more to look after other rabbits.

We'll see, I'll keep updating this!

I don't honestly trust professional pet sitters, only professional bunny sitters, and I only know of one in Vancouver, and that's Michelle. (I'll have to dig up her contact info). She takes the buns in at her place.

I'm in the West End, and I can bunny sit for a few days, no problem. Depending on when you need the sitter for, I can take them here, I have a spare living room, spare pens, etc..

Marvin is my only free run bun right now (other than the bedroom and backroom guys), but he doesn't mind being in his pen with or next to the foster girls. I also have a bunny-free kitchen.

Or I can drop by your place once or twice a day.

Only problem might be me bunnynapping Lara. :biggrin2:

Thank you so much for the speedy response! Your offer to come around is so kind. I think bunny people will always be the best but I know you have your hands full, too! Of course if I take you up on your offer I will gladly return the favour too if you are ever away and want me to do a certain 'shift'!

The thing we would prefer to do is not disrupt the buns and take them away from their environment as I'm sure you can appreciate. We would rather have someone trustworthy who can come to our home.

Ideally we would look to have the buns fed/watered and a run for Harrelltwice a day either early morning and later on in the evening. It's the cuddles/play timeand company more than anything.

Harrell came from the BC SPCA and is very nervous when there is change and when he has to travel; he thinks he's going to somewhere bad or back to the SPCA again! he had been passed around and very much needs the routine and stability.

Lara is a real princess and rules our apartment like her own. Like Harrell, any change or to be taken away from "her" territory would be devastating.

Important to know - Lara and Harrell are not yet bonded. Lara is permanently out and Harrel can go in a pen from his rabbit condo which will need supervising.

Pipp, if you are aroundon Sundaymy spouse and I would love to come around to meet you and your buns. I have your address from our original contact when I emailed you about your yard sale via Craigslit.

Just let me know when it's convenient!

Many thanks,

Rosanna

Ah! Old thread - but did you by chance get Harral from the Van SPCA?

We had a mixed boy with the same name, and I miss him so much.

I'm pleased to saymypartner and Iwent away for a few days (we got back Sunday)and Pipp was our saviour indeedlooking afterLara & Harrell, and Lara especially....wow what a story to tell but she got a gas attack (AGAIN) the last night!! :(Would you believe the bad timing?? thankfully, we knew she was in good hands with Pipp.

Pipp came to the rescueand we could not be more grateful for her hard work & dedication pulling Lara back from discomfort and staying at our apartment until she was better (despite her own bunnies).

Lara had snuck away to cower in pain through a gap in the bathroom cupboard and would not (and could not)jump over thegapto get out again!:grumpy:We had to get a guy friend to give up his Saturday night out and come by and rip out the heavy duty hard board... then Pipp took over from there to administer some Oval (simethicone) and interestingly, some pumpkin as well as,some blissful tummy rubs.

I had not realised whatpumpkin could do - higher in fibre than hay and moist to lubricate the gut. Also Pedilite? or something like that. Again, something we have not used before. What a great piece of knowledge! thanks again,Pipp!

Lara loves pumpkin and who knows, this could be the "magic potion" during her malts. This is now the fourth gas attack during her malt in three months. The experience of thestretched outposition, shakingand glassy eyes is one of the most heart breaking things I have witnessed.

Great to know we have awonderful neighbour and rabbit expert so close....Pipp, you're a star!

Thanks to rabbitsonline.net which hooked us up, too:biggrin2:
