You are probably thinking of a mix.The breed that I think you are referring to is a Thuringer. They are very similar to the American breed known as Cinnamon. They get to 9 lbs. Back in 1907 they were smaller. Hope this helps.
The Thuringian Dwarf Lop is a small tortoiseshell coloredlop (similar to our tort Holland Lop in the US). The Thuringer rabbit breed is tort in color, so that's where I'm assuming the name originated from.
As far as I am aware, it is just a dwarf lop with tort coloring. What are the distinguishing characteristics that you are referring to? We call them Holland Lops in the US, however, you might be able to find European references to the breed.
Oh - so it's basically just another name for Hollands??? The photos in the link you gave and in the book I was reading look different to me than Holland's for some reason.
Not all Hollands/Dwarf/Mini (depending on what country we're referring to) have the same Dwarf-like features. Some Hollands have narrower faces and longer ears than the show quality animals do.
The photos in the link I posted are all purebred Holland Lops.
