I have an en suite bathroom in my room. Currently Toby resides in a fairly small (2x2 cube) condo. It's basically a cube with 4 panels per side, with a 3 panel second story. He is not in there for a long period of time... He's in there about 7 hours a day.

I am thinking of just flattening and storing the cage and moving Toby into my en suite during those 7 ish hours a day. His litterbox, food, and a couple of toys would be in there. The en suite probably has a little more square footage, but doesn't have a second level. The flooring is tile, which is what he has in his condo anyways.

When I get home, I would simply open up the bathroom door and let him into the room. How does this sound to you guys? Is this just a terrible idea?

I personally like having a cage, even if it's open all the time, as a sort of home base/ safe spot for the bunnies. That's where their food, water and litterbox are and they feel safe in there. Also my cage can fold down small enough to fit in my car (it's a dog crate) so if I need to take them somewhere in an emergency or when I need someone else to watch them, their cage comes too.

My thinking was that the bathroom would be his safe zone anyways. Like if he was out and about running around, and ran into the bathroom, I would leave him be. Obviously if I need to go to the washroom or whatever I would go in, but I wouldn't disturb him.

I have him in there right now as a kind of trial period, and he does have a kind of log hidey area so he can feel closed in and safe if he wants to. I took a peek at what he was doing a couple minutes ago and he was flopped in the middle of the tile so I definitely think he's comfortable.

What's a "log hidey area"? I think I'd at least make sure that he has some sort of box or house he can hide in if he'd like to.

Yeah, it's essentially that, but made out of logs. It's enclosed and I'm sure he would feel safe if he retreated into it. It's about the size of his kennel that I use to take him to the vet.

Tippy here. I'm a cage free bunny and I love it. Maybe if you get to be really good, Mommy will leave the bathroom door open while she's gone and you can have two rooms to play in all day!

Tippy's mommy here. Only thing with the bathroom...remember the close the toilet...the Tipster is super curious and I always worry about her hopping up and falling in. And do you have a bath tub? Tippy can get into it but can't/won't get out. Otherwise, I think it's a cool idea!

She has her own bedroom. We use baby gates to lock her up when we are not home or sleeping. She loves her room and occasionally chooses to hang there instead of with us
