Srecko
Bojan & Danae
My favorite kind of threads are those that all of us bunny lovers can band together and share stories and photos and laugh together.
My apologies if someone's already started a thread like this, and I just didn't see. Just let me know if they have. I want to know where you're from and the backstories to how you got your bunnies! I've read some people's stories, and they're so interesting. We're all from different parts of the world with different cultures and societal norms, but we're bonded by the same passion - rabbits!
To start, I'll share how we came across our Srecko (though it's not as interesting of a story as most I'm sure, but who cares! ).
My boyfriend Bojan and I live in San Diego, CA. :sunshine: About a week ago, we were talking about his family's 8 year old rabbit Pero who they've always wanted to get a buddy for. Pero grew up being the only rabbit around, and they definitely spoiled him all his life, as any bunny owner should. But they always wanted to get another rabbit so that Pero has a bunny-friend. My boyfriend and I wanted to get one, but since we live in a condo, Bojan said it's not humane to get a rabbit since it won't have ample room to enjoy life. I offered up the idea of getting a dwarf rabbit since they don't get much bigger than 5 lbs or so - perfect size for a condo! He loved the idea and so we went on Craigslist and the first ad I looked at was exactly what we both wanted - an all white dwarf buck. We picked him up the next day and it turns out he has two different colored eyes, one blue and one brown. If it wasn't already love at first sight, it was then when we realized he had unique eyes. :bunnyheart We named him Srecko, which is Serbian for "The lucky one" or "The happy one" (Bojan's family is from Serbia). We've now had him for a week, and it's going really well. We can't wait to introduce him to Pero! Bojan's family live in Modesto, CA (central-valley) where we're both from originally, so they won't be able to meet until Thanksgiving when we have a break from school. By then, Srecko will be neutered, so we're hoping the bonding process goes smoothly!
Here are a few pictures (because, admit it, that's the favorite part about this forum or all of us, isn't it?)...
On our car ride home the day we got him.

And here's a few from last night at the park. His first time on a leash, he did really well!
