I think that is an okay noise. Apparently my fiance gets Sugar to make noises like that all the time when he's petting her.
Maybe he's just learned how to do the noise louder now?
I think from reading the rest of the body language is how you are going to have to determine if he is in pain or not. If he is sleepy or relaxed looking, I would think he is okay. If he is hunched or uncomfortable looking, then I would think he is in pain.
Baxter moves his mouth a lot when he sleeps. It looks like he's talking or chewing and sometimes he chatters a bit.

I agree with Dawn ; it is hard to believe that he is in pain from the video
