If you are talking with the new owner, I would seriously get animal control on the case right away. First of all, that's abuse for the rabbit to be in a cardboard box. Temperatures get hot in LA, and a box outdoors is no place for a bunny. Not to mention he is going to chew that box up in no time and be long gone before the morning and the heat of thedaycomes around.
If you want Milk to survive, really, find someone who will take him that won't put him down.
