I was wondering if anyone has ever had snuffles in their bunny because maybe my oldest has it. I have looked into it and I heard it is super contagious in rabbits and I am worried the fosters may have caught it as well as my other two. 95422DCA-59A7-4FC2-8313-CB048486B186.jpeg
This is a picture of Snoball and he has discharge from his nose and eyes. He has also not been eating as much as he normally does.

Also he is about 10 years old so I don’t know if its because of old age or snuffles or another respiratory issue

I have a vet visit for him in 1 hr, but was wondering if anyone has any ideas before hand?

That sucks! What medicine did the vet prescribe you?

So we went to 2 different vets, one was my bunnies vet and one was the fosters shelter vet.

Snoball was prescribed with .8 mls of Baytril as well as .8 mls of Reglan liquid.

Bearbear was prescribed with Enrofloxacin oral liquid and .35 ml

I was also given Critical Care since they have not been eating

Perfect! I hope they get better!

I have been very nervous to post this since I dont know the why

Today I noticed my one, Oreo, was not moving. I looked closer and she was dead. Cold dead. I don’t know when she passed. I am very upset that I didn’t catch whatever was up with her, especially if she caught snuffles and I didnt notice.

Oreo had been bonded with Spot who is now receiving treatment for snuffles. I am so sad and nervous because I know some bunnies go into such a deep state of depression when their partners die that they die also.

Oreo and Spot are only 5 years old and I am so devastated about this.

I will always always love her 😞😭A4104B7B-9C60-47EB-A8FA-67E3E5E41892.jpeg0B55A17F-17EC-4237-83D4-691F1F37B854.jpeg248F731F-BA9C-45FF-81AA-72BF2856019D.jpeg2474A91D-CCD0-4E94-9326-6DECD36C0691.jpeg

I'm so sorry for your loss! I hope that the other rabbits get better! You can feed them lots of dandelion right now because it helps with respiratory issues.

Snuffles is very contagious. If you have any other rabbits they should all be tested/treated. It might be Oreo had it and developed into pneumonia. Just watch them all closely.

All of mine are currently on medication for snuffles as well as the fosters

Respiratory infections can be stubborn too. My bun always needs a refill of any medicine. Snuffles just is so dangerous, I am so sorry you went through this. Sending bunny love to you.

My rabbit has snuffles . Had it for nearly a year . He’s still on meds but it’s not shifting . I use an nebuliser everyday which helps a lot and helps him breathe. If your is really snotty he probably can’t smell his food so maybe that’s why not eating .
U might want to think about using an nebuliser im sure it will help .
I’ve tried every avenue with mine boy doing what I do everyday gives hime a better Quality of life and he hasn’t got any worse . I do find somedays are better than others tho .
good luck with ur bunny
