Shredded paper litter

Shredded paper litter,can i use it? if say i shredded newspaper ,mine is a cross cut shredder !! and it would be a ceap alternative!

It's safe, but I would not use it because it will not absorb well and will probably be smellier and wetter. I am even not a fan of carefresh or yesterday's news because of the smell factor ... pelleted wood works so much better in my experience.

Thanks i`ll go back to that. did find him chomping on the paper so had to take it out !!!

I use a combination of litters. Some of the pans that are down on the floor are filled with newspaper that I tear by hand into strips. The ink used is a safe, non-toxic, vegetable--our vet said it was perfectly safe and we have been doing it for more than 4 years now. The bunnies love to play in it--dig and burrow under so all you can see are their ears. They also scatter it around and chew it. I change each pan as needed as some get higher usage than others. Hope this has been helpful.
