Hey guys,
so i just clipped flops's nails and one of them sort of split.
I'm not quite sure how to explain this but here goes. It sort of flaked a bit..
So there's the tip of the nail, and there was a little piece that sort of flaked or flared out, so I pulled it off and it took some more nail with it in a line going downwards (not as far as the quick).

If that didn't make any sense think of a banana that only has a strip of it's peel pulled off.

Should I be worried?

Is it bleeding? If not, don't worry. If it is, use flour, styptic powder, or cornstarch and pressure to stop the bleeding. Watch it every day and clean it with betadine or apply a triple antibiotic ointment. If not bleeding, don't worry. It will grow out either way. If it didn't happen for a real reason, he may have a nutritional deficiency that makes his nails weak. To me it just sounds like his nails were kinda long and that made them break like that.

I've heard of that too.

The ones I use are made for rabbits i believe.

I bought them from the colorado house rabbit society so they should be legit.

Absolutely should be. I think sometimes, a split nail can happen. Should grow out and be fine though.:)
