Smudge (7mth, female, dwarf Lion Head) has started making a little squeaking type noise ( it is really quit) when I go to pick her up out of her cage. This is before I touch her. She does not try to scramble away, or bat at me, or anything like that.

Once she is in my arms she tries to scramble up to my shoulder so I stop her and pull her back down to my chest area and then she is fine. As soon as I put her down she is fine, ears perked, happy and off she goes exploring.

What is the deal? Is she scared? Happy? I am just not sure.

Our Gracie (mini rex) squeaks a lot. She squeaks if you pick her up, but she also squeaks when she grooms herself or sleeps, it's actually really cute. I at first thought it was an unhappy sound when she first squeaked when we picked her up, but after hearing her do it at other times (happy/relaxed times) I think she is just vocal and that they are most likely happy squeaks. She can be quite loud squeaking when she sleeps!
