SE Pennsylvania Breeders

Hi,

My Munchkin is going to be spayed on June 16, 2006 and I want to be able to get her a playmate within two months after that. I want to avoid getting my bunnies from pet stores but I don't know what breeder sare local to me. I live in Pottstown, PA and am looking for a breeder that is relatively close (between 20 to 50 miles) that I can contact and set up an eventual purchase.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch

Have you checked out the rescues or the SPCA? I'm always amazed by the number of available bunnies on Petfinder.com....

I've considered that route, but to be honest, I really prefer to raise them up from kittens. I won't totally rule out an older rabbit though.

Sometimes they have fairly young rabbits (although most don't let them go until they are fixed). If you adopt, the adoptino charge is less then if you were to get one from a breeder then neuter it or spay it so it might be a cost wise decission if your on a budget. Just in case you would like to see, there's a bunny in Pottstown, PA at a shelter Just to keep options open.

You might enjoy attending the Pennsylvania State Rabbit Breeders Convention the first weekend in February in Lebanon, PA. This year there were approx. 6000 rabbits entered! There are also vendors with rabbit supplies. The show is only about an hour from you.

Ooops! I didn't know it only had flemishes, I thought it was just for breeders in that area:shock:

That's okay because some of them do breed smaller rabbits. I found that out when I called the one rabbitry.
