Say farewell to Maddi.

Maddi is a 2 year old rabbit.
A week ago she was to the vet and he said that she had bladder infection so she got some antibiotics. Now a week later she has a massive diarrhea, can't walk, her eyes are dry and she looks reallly like a mess.
Maddi is one of my rabbit Beths children and one of my friends adopted Maddi. The vet said he couldn't do anything more now.
Looks like she is leaving us and heading for the rainbow bridge.

I'm so sorry this has happened to your bun. Some antibiotics can be fatal if given to rabbits. I hope the vet didn't give one of these.

I don't know if there is any chance of saving her still, but will share this info with you just in case. If there is a better rabbit vet near you, go to them. The clostridium and e. coli bacteria can take over when a bad antibiotic kills off a rabbits good gut bacteria. Specific antibiotics need to be given to try and counteract this. Metronidazole for the clostridium bacteria, as well as another antibiotic like trimethoprim sulfa or Albon to control any possible coccidia parasites. Also Questran needs to be given to absorb the toxins released from the harmful bacteria. And fluids to keep your rabbit from dehydrating.

I don't know how bad she is, but I wanted to make sure to share this info in case there is a chance that something still might be done.

She's gone now. She left us with a tiny scream. My friend, Maddi's owner is heartbroken. So I told her to write a letter to Maddi to give to Maddi when she gets buried.
