Sam the Koala passed away.

Sam, the koala, has passed away at the age of four. Her caregivers decided to euthanize her instead of perform surgery on her bladder and uterus to remove cysts caused by urogenital chlamydiosis. They did not want her to go through unnecessary suffering caused by the painful surgery.

Sam was the koala made famous with a video on YouTube and eventually the Bushfire Aid fundraiser CD cover. She was seen in the charred remains of a forest running away from the fireman. Then, she stops and he gives her a drink from a water bottle while holding her paw. It was a moving video and image.

RIP, little Sam. You've earned a good rest.

I remember watching the video like it was yesterday, it was so moving.
The compassion from her rescuer and the trust she gave in return. It was absolutely beautiful. :cry2
