Hey everyone,

I know if a rabbit doesn't produce poop in 12hours that signals a red flag. Today I brought in my rabbit to a specialist because he was showing all sorts of signs of a dental issue. She determined the cause of the symptoms and found that he had a tiny pointy tooth making tiny small cuts to the side of his tongue. His due in for surgery on Monday to have that pointy tooth filed down. In the mean time, she gave him an injection and pain killers.

when I brought him home, he was eating some food. It's been 4 hours now and he hasn't produced any poop yet. Only urinated. I'm worried! Is this because of the pain killers or?

The stress of going to the vets can sometimes throw them off a little. As long as he is eating a moderate amount, his poop production should get caught back up. I would just keep an eye on him and make sure he is eating and drinking. If he isn't pooping after 12 hours and/or stops eating then I would for sure contact your vet right away.

Thanks for replying to my post :) he definitely ate when we came back from the clinic, and drunk lots of water too. Regarding his droppings, I searched his cage and only literally found 3 small poops. I hope this increases because I don't want him to fully enter the GI Stasis and make matters worse for him :(
