Bugs got neutered yesterday and he is doing amazing. He is eating, pooping, and peeing. My vet told me Bugs was chewing at the incision so he has to have a cone on all day, for a week. It breaks my heart to see him struggling. I have to give him water through a syringe very often, feed him his favorite pieces of hay, and put his veggies in his cone. I was wondering if the cone is necessary considering he was chewing at the wound. I think a whole week is a long time for him to have to keep it on. It is currently full of poop. Does it have to stay on?

He may not need it quite that long.
If he is going for the incision it does need to be protected though.
Bunny pants?
A neckbrace type collar could be made out of old shirts so he cant turn and reach.
You can always take it off when youre watching him.
It will likely feel way less annoying in just a few days so...
I know there are posts on this forum discussing this. Try doing a search for Cone and see what comes up. I recall photos of what other members created for their buns.
