HAIRLESS GENE
The hairless (AKA furless) gene is f. This is recessive to normal fur, which is F. In order for a rabbit to be hairless, it must have twohairless genes (ff). Normal furred rabbits can carry the hairless gene(Ff). Hairless gene carriers often have wiry fur, loose their fureasily (in clumps), and/or have bald patches. The hairless gene oftenshows up in mini rex and rex.

Goodness Gracious! I hope Raspberrydoesn't see these and get any smart ideas about what to do withSebastian's fur.

Thanks for the link, LittleMija, and theinformation.

AWWW :(I like hairless animals...I use to have ahairless rat :Dand a semi hairless rat who had blue fur andpink skin so she looked purple...hence(sp?) the name violet...

Awww, I think they're cute too! I would own one. I wanted a hairless guinea pig for awhile but cost a little too much.

They can't help it that they have no hair - I'm sure people tried veryhard for a long time to breed a rabbit to look like that. Why, Icouldn't tell you... but they are still rabbits!

I bet they would be real snuggly considering their lack of fur. I haveheard the hairless dogs make greater "heaters" in bed. I do have to saythat they are rather odd looking. It is amazing what we can do withgenetics now-a-days!
