My cats have tapeworms!! I've never seen them before and it kind of freakedme out when I saw them in my cats poop! Do rabbits get worms like cats do?
Ummm, I don't know, I didn't know there was more than one kind of tape worm, I got praziquantel for the cats, it doesn't sound like the rabbits would need to be treated.Ivermectin and Panacur won't work for tapeworms in rabbits. You would have to get Drontal or another wormer for them.
Which kind of tapeworm do your cats have? The only kinds that rabbits can get is Taenia, not to mention it doesn't affect them like it does a cat. Rabbits are only intermediate hosts. In other words, the worm cannot reproduce in the rabbit. The rabbit only sheds the cysts and infects other animals. (Usually they have to be eaten for that to occur...wild rabbits serve as the intermediate host.)
