introducing our newest member to our clan... little oreo! he's about 3 - 3.5 months old... sweet as pumpkin pie and fitting in beautifully. we are, of course, keeping him sep from gingersnap and working with them daily to get them to be bunny buddies and live together eventually.

he goes to the vet next wed. to get neutered.

Aww, what a sweetie pie! It looks like he has a little heart on his side in the first picture! How adorable!

Bruno needs to get neutered by the end of next month, hopefully sooner. I was wondering which vet you are having Oreo neutered at? :D

the vet at whatcom vet clinic in abbotsford. that's where my vet sent me as he doesn't work on bunnies... and they did gingersnap spaying. everything went perfectly! i'm very pleased with the quality of their care. ;)

honestly, the main reason i agreed to let my daughter get another bunny friend is for gingersnap. since she really prefers to be in her condo instead of hopping around the house or the yard, i wanted her to have a companion instead of just her stuffed cat slipper (which she thinks is a bunny and grooms daily LOL)

hopefully now that she has a friend, she'll be more interested in exploring the house with her new buddy.

so far... with all our introduction times (have done three so far) the bunnies have gotten along perfectly, so i'm sure they'll be living together soon enough. at this point we have oreo living in the top floor of gingersnap's condo. (just have it blocked off so they can't get together). so gingersnap has the bottom two levels and he has the top one.

i have the BEST news. i just stopped in at the vet's office so they could make sure his "cookies" were dropped so they could remove them LOL and they said, "would you like to leave him overnight? and perhaps let his friend stay with him?"

i had them both in the car as a bonding experience... so they were in the kennel together, huddled in the back of it (which pleased me) and so i took them up on the offer. both of them will stay in the same little area together all night... eat together... bond... and tomorrow he'll go for his short neuter and then they'll stay together (as long as they are fine with each other) until i pick them up at 5.

so we are cleaning out their enclosure reaaaaaaaally well tomorrow... removing as many smells as possible and then we are going to house them together. so they don't have the opportunity to become distant again. IF there's a problem, we can easily house them sep again... but we are going to take full advantage of this opportunity as see if it brings them together in loooooove.

they seem to have no problem with each other so far... so here's hoping it works. :D

wish us luck!

the vet said the two of them were amazing together. got along great! they said it was hilarious watching gingersnap as she's such a hyper bunny... hopping all over the place.

they were so pleased, with the lack of stress the bunnies experienced. having them together was a great thing!

so if you are taking in a bunny to get spayed or neutered... check and see if you can take their bunny roomie with them... ;)

they are in the same NIC cage... and we'll see how they do!

I missed this! :(

Oreo is adorable! I love the colour of his ears. Perfect little couple o' buns you've got there. ;)That's so great they are getting on well, love at first sight, hehe. :biggrin2:

So he got neutered and it all went well?

yes he did and yet it did!

i'm so impressed with this vet. i've never used them before but heard wonderful things about them. now my bunnies have their own vet (as my other pets have a different vet who doesn't treat bunnies)

That's great news! :)

You're so lucky to have found a great bunny vet, I can't find a decent one at all, vets here specialise in cows. :rollseyes

Now we need piccies of the beautiful couple together!
