Nutrena Nature Wise Premium Rabbit Pellets

Hubby and I were out shopping and he was pricing feeds for the horses, sheep, goat and of course he found rabbit feed. He pointed out that the pellets were the same brand I feed the horses and they are doing Excellent on it.

I told him "no no no - don't fix what ain't broken with bunnies - Oxbow is what I use".....

but

It's like 1/4 of the cost.

It's for breeding and growing bunnies tho.

Anyone know if it's any good? I won't use it cause it's not really right for mine.

I believe I would have to pass on that food....but I won't use Oxbow either. I can't find any nutritional break down from Nutrena. And their feeding instructions sound like they came out of the '50s. There is no complete pellet. And cutting hay to avoid mess? Sounds counterproductive to me not to mention that long strand hay is much better for a rabbit. No thanks on this food.

We've been buying that food for years, cause it's the only pellets we could find in bulk, and when u have 10 bunnies u need that. Well now it's only 5 but we were buying it cause we didn't know about Timothy Pellets being better for them. Our bunnies seem to enjoy that pellet.

Yeah, I want to use timothy. I'm going to look further into some brands.

I can only find a 5lb bag on Kaytee Timothy in town. That's why we use the Nature Wise.....

I used Nutrena for a couple years and it worked pretty well but I found I had to feed more hay and other fibers....... not a bad feed though.
